Hello
I want to add a ‘latest news’ section to a website I’m creating. I want such a system that I only need to add the title of the article in a new post (maybe) and the external link of the article. On the front-end, this should fetch the first 5 items in reverse chronological order automatically and if a person clicks on any link he goes to the external resource but not the post page on which I added that entry (because that will have neither styling nor content). How can I achieve that? Which element should I use?

You can use the blog element with any of the design grids.
Try it out and let us know if we can do anything else for you.Cheers!

I want to create a list of links where each link points to an external webpage. But I want the system to be such that the links are stored as a blog post or maybe a link can be a custom post type. So every time I only have to create a new link-type post where the title of the link is the title of the post and there is some field for me to enter the actual URL of the article/write-up and the name of the publication it is linking to. Then the link list, which I would add to a particular page, would automatically show the recently added link in the list and on clicking it, I won’t be taken to the link post on my website but to the external resource whose link I added while creating the post (sort of like when we change the URL in Enfold’s portfolio gallery). A working example that I have seen on the internet is here: http://alwaysbedoing.com/
March 6, 2017 at 2:47 pm #756425Hi,
Unfortunately it would require quite some time and customization of the theme to achieve this, so I am sorry to tell you that this is not covered by our support. However if its really important for you to get this done, you can always hire a freelancer to do the job for you :)
If you like to try it on your own there are many aggregator plugins available in the wordpress plugin directory you can give one such plugin which support the features you are looking for.
Please give this plugin a try https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-rss-aggregator/
Best regards,
VinayMarch 6, 2017 at 4:44 pm #756493Hi Vinay
Actually, I can do this if only you can help me with a particular problem with link format posts in the magazine section. Even when I choose the link format option on the post page and have it in a magazine element on a different page, it takes me to the post rather than the external link. Can you help me with that?
March 6, 2017 at 4:45 pm #756495I even tried a potential fix by Ismael that I found but it is not working for me for some reason. PS – I am using a child theme.
March 13, 2017 at 7:07 pm #760203Hi,
no, unfortunately we can’t help you with this, as it would be out of our support scope. Please hire a freelance developer for this kind of customization: http://kriesi.at/contact/customization
Best regards,
