Links list

The way we can tag and sort accordion toggles, and categorize and sort portfolio entries, made me wonder if there were some sort of similar feature or content element that would let me tag/categorize and sort a list of links.

I have a lot of off-site articles I want to link to, and being able to tag them and let the user display their desired categories would be great. Especially if it draws on the existing links function within WordPress. Is there a feature like this I’m missing, or a feature I can adapt to use like this? I suspect not, but I’ve been surprised by the versatility of these themes before.

(BTW, if it doesn’t exist, I’d like to ad it as a feature suggestion, but not having a search function there is kind of tricky. I can’t see whether someone else has suggested something similar before, and obviously adding my vote to that instead of creating my own suggestion would be more efficient.)
