    Hi geniuses,

    I just installed the SearchWP-Plugin to improve the search results of our website and index uploaded PDF-files (http://www.kirchheim-heimstetten.de/). So far, so good. If I search for a keyword that I know is included in a pdf document (like the German word “Fahrrad”), the result page is showing correct titles from pdfs, but I’m not able to open a single pdf-file.

    I googled for a solution and found two codes from the plugin page (see links: https://searchwp.com/docs/kb/link-pdf-instead-attachment-page/, and: https://searchwp.com/docs/kb/link-file-instead-attachment-page/). I added both of the codes in our functions.php but nothing has changed. I still can’t open a file on the search result page. Has this something to do with the general Enfold theme settings?

    You’re my last chance now ;) Is there anything you have in mind that will help?

    Kind regards,
    Sebastian

    Hi Sebastian,

    I searched for fahrrad on your page but I’m not sure which results should contain a PDF, could you link to one directly please? We might need to access the backend of your site so please post admin login details in private. Also please note that our themes cannot be compatible with all plugins out there but we will try to help you out.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hi Rikard,

    thanks for your quick response! So if you’re searching for “Fahrrad” you’re gonna get a bunch of results. The first eight results (which is “Kirchheimer Mitteilungen…”) should link to a PDF but instead you’re going to get a blank page after klicking on it.

    The correct link to the file (that was generated by uploading the file via WordPress-Media) is: http://www.kirchheim-heimstetten.de/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/KIMI_44-2016_web.pdf

    Of course I know that not every plugin is compatible with Enfold but after you mentioned it in your theme documentation (http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/use-searchwp-instead-of-the-standard-search/) I thought it’s worth a try.

    Also see the login details in private.

    Thanks again in advance and best regards,
    Sebastian

    Hey!

    We copied the original functions from the documention and updated the functions.php file. The search items are linking to the pdf files now.

    // http://www.kirchheim-heimstetten.de/?s=Fahrrad
    // http://www.kirchheim-heimstetten.de/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/KIMI_44-2016_web.pdf

    Best regards,
    Ismael

    Hi Ismael,

    you the best, you know that?! I mean for real! ;)

    Just for understanding: what exactly was the problem? As I mentioned in my first post I thought the code snippets from the SearchWP plugin page would solve the issue…

    Big thank you to all of your team!

    Best regards,
    Sebastian
