Link to Category on a Portfolio Page

Is it possible to provide a unique link to my interior design portfolio page and automatically have it filter to a particular category (e.g. Kitchen). I’m thinking of something like https://designinside.com/portfolio?category=kitchen

I would like to simplify my site and only have a single portfolio page and simply direct users to that page with a filter for a specific room type instead of having individual pages for each room type (e.g. Kitchen, Bathroom, Living Room).

Also, from a SEO perspective, am I better to have individual pages like I do now? Or, do something like I outlined above? Don’t want to put a lot of effort into this if it would negatively impact my SEO.
