For the past several days, Enfold text block editing doesn’t seem to respect the line breaks I add. The behavior isn’t consistent. When I add them manually in the text tab and then switch back to visual, the line breaks disapear. Sometimes the breaks show properly on the visual side, but won’t render the same way when published. I read that plugins might be the problem, so I’ve removed them all. This didn’t help. I paid $69 for a live wordpress tech to help me figure it out. In the end his solution was to add a custom CSS line to work around the problem. I need this to work or I can’t use your theme anymore and that would be sad. Please help. I am extremely frustrated.
May 4, 2016 at 1:00 pm #627168Hey,
Sorry about your frustation but unfortunately this is a known limitation with the Text Block element, one thing you can do is use multiple Text Blocks and separate them with a whitespace element.

JosueMay 5, 2016 at 2:33 am #627576Hi, Josue… I don’t think you have appreciated the depth to which it’s not working. The behavior is inconsistent and it completely wipes out all line breaks. It renders the line breaks in the editor sometimes, yet doesn’t publish them (or all of them) when you view the live site. This isn’t auto formatting as you would expect in WP. This is far worse. I’ve given you the access to the site. Please try it yourself to see what I’m talking about. Try adding any line break at all anywhere in this document. It’ll show you’ve done it succesfully but it won’t actually publish… or sometimes it changes all the formatting.
Thanks,
SPS. Is there another text plugin I can use instead as a work around? I can’t use multiple text blocks because Id have to use one for each line. This can’t be how it’s meant to work.

May 9, 2016 at 2:06 am #628944Hi,
This is actually not a theme issue because WordPress by default removes line breaks and automatically wraps text inside a paragraph tag to create spaces. If you really want to add this in the text editor, you can either disable wpautop feature or add a class attribute to the line break tags. Something like this should work:
Text here. <br class="custom-break" /> Text here.

IsmaelMay 9, 2016 at 2:42 am #628951Ismael, this is not a case of simple WP auto-formatting. I can’t even end a paragraph at all in many cases and it will just end up as a giant blob of text with no formatting.
I’ve turned off auto-formatting and that doesn’t work.
I’ve tried a plugin that disables auto-formatting and that doesn’t work.
Please please please log in with the credentials I’ve given you and try it yourself to understand. My client is wondering why I can’t fix this simple problem and every time you respond telling me I have no problem, it takes another two days to get another response from you.
Please help.

AndyJuly 9, 2016 at 9:42 am #658717Is there really no other easier way to do a simple line break in a text block?
This has been quite annoying. Do you know if a simpler line break feature will be added in an upcoming update?
July 9, 2016 at 4:31 pm #658811Hi!
We are afraid not, as that is the default behavior of the WordPress Editor.
Please do let us know if we can do anything else for youRegards,

I keep getting this type of problem too. What I found to resolve it was to go into Text mode (not Visual mode), and removing all the random <div> tags and replacing with a blank line using the Return/Enter key. Then go back to Visual mode and all should be working normally. Hope this helps someone else.August 2, 2018 at 7:24 am #992740Hi omshiva,
Thanks for sharing your solution, much appreciated :-)
