GuestI am working with a client who is moving to a WP site. I like your Enfold system but wanted to know how the licensing worked. Meaning, she is paying me for all the work and incidentals, like buying this theme. If I was to purchase this, would it be locked into a specific domain? To where if I installed it on my development server, to practice using it, could I then install it on her final server once she purchased her hosting? Did not want to get into a situation where I have to pay TWICE for the same Enfold theme. Thanks.
September 28, 2020 at 7:47 pm #1249151Hey Jim Klymus,
Your client can purchase the theme under his/her own ThemeForest account, give you a copy of the files so that you can work with them, and then the client will enter the token on the production server.
Best regards,

GuestConfused. So the ‘files’ you referenced are the actual Enfold theme files I can also install on my development server and everything will work properly inside my dev environment of WordPress? Even though the official token (key?) would be installed on the production server?
This is where I am confused. As to if Enfold will run on BOTH environments with only the ONE key installed on the production server. They are on two different domains. Did not know if your application is tied into the domain it is being used on or some independent key/token that simply needs to be accessible from the application to validate that it is a valid, purchased copy.
Thanks.

Thanks for the update. The token is tied to the specific domain yes, but you don’t need to add the token on your development server, although it might work anyway. If the automatic updates won’t work on the development server then you can update it manually via FTP. You don’t need two licenses for this setup, as development servers are allowed to use the theme for free.

GuestPerfect! That’s what I was hoping to hear. My client is not tech-savvy and have to do all the technical work myself. I needed to be sure I can have a dev and prod environment on two different servers with only one purchase/license of the product. I will purchase this soon, so I can start the project. Been a while since I have worked with WordPress and their themes and was pleasantly surprised to see these new, configurable theme builders. As opposed to the plain, static themes that needed to have a lot of hard coding to modify.
Thanks for the reply.
