    Hi,
My Enfold installed version is 4.0.5. Sorry but I can’t find the way to manually update the embedded version of LayerSlider (currently 5.6.8 on my site), and I want to be 100% sure not to risk to loose my sliders.
Could you please remind me the way?
    Thanks
    Nicolas

    Hey Nicolas,

That sounds like the wrong version. Please send us a temporary admin login and login URL so that we can have a closer look. You can post the details in the Private Content section of your reply.

You can’t update the LayerSlider as a plugin since it’s bundled with the theme.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hi Rikard,

Do you mean that updating the theme should automatically update the bundled plugins? If yes, it has never worked this way for me.

Please find an admin login in the private field.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Yes, the Layerslider is included in the theme, so all you have to worry about is to update the theme. The version on your installation is the correct one for the latest release of the theme (Layerslider 6.2.2, theme 4.0.5)

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hi Rikard,

I’m afraid it didn’t work this way. I’ve updated the theme, which installed version is now 4.0.5 as it should. But Layerslider’s version is still 5.6.8.

So it seems Layerslider hasn’t automatically been updated through the theme’s update, and I’ll have to do it manually. Could you please explain to me how, so that I’m sure I won’t loose any slider?

    Thanks

    Hi,

If you click the Layerslider option in the WordPress menu you can see the version number in there, I checked it yesterday and it’s correct.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hi Rikard,

This absolutely not what I’m getting.

I’ve just checked again with two browsers (and I’ve emptied the cache). The plugins list says 5.6.8, and inside the Layerslider menu, it says “an update is available for LayerSlider WP! You have version 5.6.8. The latest version is 6.3.0”.

Please check the screenshots in the private URL.

    Thanks

    #773881

if you go to your dashboard and on layerslider – the first window – scrolldown ! what do you see here on the right side?

Or do you have a standalone layerslider license installed?

    Hi,
The layout of this page is different, but the version number is 5.6.8, not 6.2.0 or any 6 version.
If you want to see exactly what I get, please check my screenshots in the private section bellow.
    Thanks

    #774025

oh wow – even a screenshot is now top secret  must be a fbi or cia site

by the way – layerslider got his own export options – you can even export with all images you use. – so backup first this way.

And again my question !!! – if you have on plugins list a layerslider you have installed it stand alone.
This is not the embeded slider than. Enfold does not have on plugin list the layerslider. !!!

if you definitly want to have your own layerslider – deactivate the embeded one! by inserting this to functions.php of your child-theme:

    add_theme_support('deactivate_layerslider');

but the standalone does not support advanced layout builder element (layerslider ) you than have to insert it via shortcode !
If you like to have this option on inserting advanced layer sliders via alb into your page/posts you have to deinstall the standalone one !

    HI,
Sorry to insist, but yes, this is the embedded version, not the standalone one.
I have the same problem with each Enfold’ update. Please check this: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/update-plugins/#post-454875
    Thanks

    #774161

The plugins list says 5.6.8, and inside…

have you got in your plugins list a layerslider ?
If so – this is not the embedded one

see one of my testinstallations – no layerslider in plugins-list but layerslider (the embedded one) on dashboard.

    Hi,

Yes, LayerSlider shows up in the plugins list, but no, I didn’t install the standalone version. I’m not noctambulic : I know what I did and what I didn’t. Do I need to show you my purchase’ list on Code Canyon?

I understand that it should work like on your test installation, but it’s not. This is precisely why I need your help.

Did you check the ticket I mentioned in my previous message? It’s the same problem I’ve already had with a previous Enfold update and your colleague had to do it himself: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/update-plugins/#post-454875.

    Thanks

@nmoi If the layerslider shows up in the plugin list than you could check with ftp if there is a layerslider directory within /wp-content/plugins/. Depending on how old your installations is and how many developers or freelancers worked on it one may have copied the layerslider directory from enfold to /wp-content/plugins. This was recommended for those who wanted to use the layerslider shortcode within template overloads. I have seen this a couple of times and as time goes by those modifications may be forgotten about.

so try to deactivate that plugin in plugins list. Nothing will be lost because Database has all your settings.
Click once to dashboard (because it has to regenerate the admin bar) and have a look if layerslider is still in your dashboard listing. –

    • if not you had to reactivate the plugin – save the sliders to your harddisc –
erase the whole enfold folder ( only if you working with a child-theme ) upload the newest version of enfold folder via ftp.
get rid of your layerslider folders in your plugins directory. Load your sliders in the embedded enfold one.
    • if yes and all your sliders are still there – delete your layerslider from plugins list (you can do that (because it is not activated yet – via ftp)

it seems that you have allways had that mismatch – who ever did that – it was the wrong way – if there is a layerslider folder on plugins directory – this is not the embedded one – believe me or not ( i’m just a noob with 3 Replies in this forum)

i have a standalone license of layerslider – and if i must use those only activated features (origami transition etc.) i do that code to functions.php child-theme to deactivate the embedded one and install the standalone plugin.

    HI,

There is some change. Now I can see both. In the plugins list, I still can see v5.6.8, which is disabled. And in the WordPress vertical menu, there is a link opening LayerSlider 6.2.2. I’ve tried to open instances on several browsers, and I get the same thing which seems logical.

So shouldn’t I just delete the 5.6.8 from the plugins’ list?

    Thanks

    #774660

The standalone Plugin will place on the same admin bar a layerslider heading.
Have you deactivated not deinstalled the plugin in your plugin list?
Please tell us what has been happend.

    Hi,

The bundled version which comes with the theme will not add a plugin to your site, so you or someone else must have added the stand-alone version.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    #774877

    Hi Rikard,

I fully get it: LayerSlider shouldn’t show up in the plugins list, but it does. Once again, I DIDN’T INSTALL THE STANDALONE PLUGIN. I’m not crazy, I didn’t purchase it, I don’t own it and nobody else is managing my site. Please stop suggesting this and consider that what I write has a meaning.

This update problem has occurred several times in the past when updating the theme. Your team has worked on it on several occasions. Maybe that’s the someone else you’re looking for. Two years ago, I’ve also manually reinstalled the embedded plugin, following you team member Yigit’s instructions and this video of yours: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTBsWYKaMi0. Anyway, it seems that neither you or I will never know the exact reason, and it doesn’t really matter. I just want to make it work.

    To summarize:
    – LayerSlider 6.2.2 shows up in the WordPress vertical menu as it should
    – LayerSlide 5.6.8 shows up in the plugins list, and is deactivated

So the only problem left was this “ghost” plugin in the plugins list. My latest question was: “should it delete the 5.6.8 from the plugins’ list?”. In order to move ahead, here is what I’ve tried: Instead of deleting it, I just FTP moved the LayerSlider folder. Now, the “Ghost” plugin doesn’t show up anymore, of course, but the 6.2.2 still works with my sliders, which was all I wanted.

    Should I do something else?

    Thanks

    Nicolas

    #774899

if it was deactivated and all your sliders are seen in the layerslider options – you can deinstall it.
You can do what you did – and delete it via ftp – I would prefer the deinstall routine – to avoid some rest on your database.
On beeing a bit paranoid – save first all sliders – you can do that on layerslider options (best is list view) – on list view there is on the right side a little drop-down menu – there is an export option.

And magic – from now on your layerslider will update via Enfold Update

    #774949

    Hi Guenni007,

    That makes sense.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Thanks for the feedback. Please let us know if you should need any further help on the topic.

    #778232

Well – it seem to be solved now – and btw. the video on youtube you mentioned above has nothing to do with enfold (genesis).
