I’ve updated the theme to 2.6. LayerSlider is functional as expected on latest version of Chrome and Firefox.
LayerSlider is not functioning properly on Safari latest version Version 7.0.2 (9537.74.9)
Most elements are missing. See screenshot here https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1049926/Screen%20Shot%202014-03-10%20at%203.25.09%20PM.png
I have cleared the cache twice, restarted the browser, cleared the server cache at the host level etc.
Any ideas? Best, Jas

If I wait until the page loads then drag the right bottom corner of the window to resize then the elements appear.
This is telling me that the window resize action is triggering a Javascript redraw. Once it is redrawn the second time the elements then appear.
This occurs on ALL browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Chrome) if the windows are just a little too small. I think.
What do you think is going on with this update? I did not have this issue before this update.
Thanks, Jas
March 11, 2014 at 1:40 am #235081I’m also having a problem with Advanced Layer Slider under 2.6. My home page at eichlerclub.com breaks if the LayerSlider element is on the page. I can remove the element everything works. If I add it back in, even with the default slider, the only think that appears on the page is the header. The rest of the page only shows the background color. Even the WordPress toolbar at the top is blanked.
March 11, 2014 at 1:43 am #235082This is true on Safari, Firefox, and Chrome, btw. (I will be removing that element, but let me know if you want me to add it back it to debug)
March 11, 2014 at 1:53 am #235086This might be related: If I try to edit a slider in the LayerSlider interface, it comes up with a blank page. This is true for the included Enfold Sliders as well.
March 11, 2014 at 2:40 am #235111This reply has been marked as private.March 11, 2014 at 3:21 am #235141There is a problem with iPhone mobile Safari on iOS 7.1 as well as Android on Samsung Galaxy.
In portrait mode, the only element that loads is “MAKE LIFE BETTER”. All other elements do not load until the device is rotated to landscape mode.
Then intermittently, the elements appear properly, but not often.
Thanks, Jas
March 11, 2014 at 4:12 am #235158Another problem:
1. When loading on the last version of Firefox the slider doesn’t show elements.
2. The background looks blurry and distorted. This happens every time I quit safari and load the page. If I reload the page, then it appears normally. The distorted background happens on EVERY restart of the browser. See screenshot.

March 11, 2014 at 8:13 am #235284Hey!
I tagged this thread for Kriesi. LayerSlider is a third party plugin and we propably need to report these issues to the plugin author. I noticed that the slider starts to work on Chrome if I activate/deactivate the dev console which tells me that the “resize window” action seems to trigger a recalculation of the slider elements. Maybe we can use this hack for a temporary fix until the plugin author releases an update.
Cheers!
PeterMarch 11, 2014 at 8:44 am #235290Yes, as I mentioned, the window resize action is triggering a Javascript redraw.
It seems this could be solved by reordering the java script load. Hmm. In either case, this has broken many websites and there should be a clear way to down-grade to a previous version. To have a site working, then have no way to get it working again, is unnecessary, to say the least.
I sent a message to dev of LayerSlider as well and there has been no response. This is very disappointing that this LayerSlider release was not tested.
Thank you, Jas
March 11, 2014 at 10:09 am #235321Hi Jas!
Will take a look at the issue immediately. I tested the slider a lot and it seems to work fine on my end in all browsers, however there is always the possibility that different configurations of the slider, wordpress or the server might cause issues which I cannot reproduce locally.
Would you guys both post me login credentials for a backend user that is able to edit the layerslider so I can take a look at it myself?
Best regards,

No i tested the layerslider on my demo and site. That was just a response to the statement “This is very disappointing that this LayerSlider release was not tested.” which in fact I did ;)
I can see the issue on your site and will have a look at it. If I can find and solve the problem you can expect an update within the next 24 hours :)

March 11, 2014 at 10:29 am #235343Kriesi,
Oh I understand. That comment was directed at the LayerSlider devs! I’m sure they tested it but this has created quite a bit of havoc, and it was already not working properly on mobile site rotation (portrait to landscape and portrait), so to see it get even worse is frustrating to say the least. Grrr. ;-/
My guess is, there is a setting we could tweak that might alleviate it. I was a bit hesitant to start poking around until I communicated with you.
Thanks for checking it out for me, Jas

Note that I removed the Advanced Layerslider on the home page (Eichler Home) and replaced it with a Full Screen Easy Slider, since this is a live site. But feel free to edit the page to try the Advanced Slider; just remove it when you’re done. Since I’m seeing a problem with even editing the Layersliders in its own console, that’s an easy place to start.
March 11, 2014 at 6:54 pm #235763When I use the Javascript console in Chrome on the Edit Slider page in Layerslider WP (i.e. I go to one of my sliders in the list and try to edit it) I get nothing where the edit functionality should be, and the console reports this:
Consider using ‘dppx’ units instead of ‘dpi’, as in CSS ‘dpi’ means dots-per-CSS-inch, not dots-per-physical-inch, so does not correspond to the actual ‘dpi’ of a screen. In media query expression: print, not all, (-webkit-min-device-pixel-ratio: 1.25), (min-resolution: 120dpi) admin.php?page=layerslider&action=edit&id=4:22

March 11, 2014 at 7:18 pm #235784Hey Guys!
Unfortunately there is not much I can say at the moment without further investigation…
You 2 seem to have very different issues with the slider and I cant tell yet why this is happening. I would like to try and install a fresh version of the slideshow files in order to test if anything was corrupted. would you mind posting me your ftp credentials as well?
@Jasmer: the backend is running fine at your installation, and actually the front end as well (no javascript errors of any kind). the only problem is that for some unkown reason the layerslider calculates the image height and width with 0 which basically makes them invisible. I am not sure why this happens but before you send me the ftp data you can also try to disable the 17 plugins you are running, maybe one of them is causing a problem…
@jeff: your backend on the other hand is throwing a lot of javascript errors. i did a quick google search and it seems that this is also happening for other themes so not sure if I can do anything in that case but to report the issue and wait for a new version of the slider. but I will try to upload the latest 2 versions and see if something changes if you post me the ftp dataCheers!
KriesiMarch 11, 2014 at 7:30 pm #235789addition: how did you guys update the theme? One thing that I found both your themes have in common is the fact that when you click on the “plugins” menu item in your backend you can still see the layerslider menu item in the sidebar.
This is something that should not happen (thats a precaution if someone wants to activate the “real” layerslider plugin from the plugin folder) This behavior was added with the latest version and it might simply be that there are one or more files which are not properly updated on both installations…

I’m fairly sure that the Layerslider menu item has always been the only way I can access that plugin. I don’t recall ever seeing it show up in the plugins menu. I have another copy of your theme running at http://www.go-factory.com (not updated to 2.6 yet) and that is the case there as well.

March 11, 2014 at 8:39 pm #235838This reply has been marked as private.March 11, 2014 at 9:25 pm #235858Kriesi,
I should mention I am using Enfold Child Theme 1.0 and I updated Enfold Theme not the child theme.
I’d like to preface this by saying I did not have a problem until the update this means it is a LayerSlider problem and not a plugin problem. All plugins were compatible before this update. No settings have been changed in the LayerSlider immediately before or after the latest update and no plugins have been updated at the same time as LayerSlider. Only one thing happened at the time this problem occurred, I updated Enfold. No other variables occured.
1. Disabling Plugins: I have never disabled plugins in mass before. If I disable and have to re configure every plugin when I enable them again that is going to be a lot of work. Can you detail how this process works please before I attempt? I do not want to have hours of work ahead of me.
2. You said this “…the only problem is that for some unknown reason the layerslider calculates the image height and width with 0 which basically makes them invisible.” If this is true, then why do all elements appear when resizing the window? How do they go from invisible to visible if the image hight and width is truly zero?
3. You said this “…but I will try to upload the latest 2 versions and see if something changes” The latest two versions of what? When I go to their website it says the latest version is 5.1.1 and in LayerSlider settings says I have 5.1.1 installed. Did you mean the “previous” two versions of LayerSlider? I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE if you can upload version 5.1 (most recent previous version – or whatever was the last version of LayerSlider included with Enfold – can you confirm this please?) and then all this is solved and I don’t have to do the work. Also please tell me how to back up previous versions of LayerSlider so I can roll back if I need to.
4. You said this “how did you guys update the theme?” I updated the theme in the basic way WordPress themes are designed to be updated, just as Jeff did, by going to Appearance Themes > Update.
5. Plugins Menu – To clarify, if I click on Plugins in the sidebar and click on ALL plugins I do not see LayerSlider listed. LayerSlider settings are still in the same place on the sidebar. I don’t see LayerSlider anywhere else other than the sidebar where it has always been although I understand you are saying it should not appear there. Hmmm
March 11, 2014 at 10:22 pm #235897Kriesi,
George from Kreatura media support just got back to me. I have to thank him for weighing in.
He said to do simply this: “Please enable both image preload and lazy load features in layerslider global options.”
So click on the slider you are having problems with then Slider Settings > MiscSolved my issue immediately (Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Mobile Safari) but I am wondering if I had several slides if this would slow down the loading of my site? Image Preload setting and Lazy load settings seem to be opposing in their definitions. Hmmm.
Thank you Kriesi for your help. Would you mind clarifying this
