The last couple of times that I updated plugins and backuped my website I received the following error warnings. Can you help interpret them?

    Version 4.7.4

Warning: fopen(/home/solconne/public_html/wp-content/plugins/home/solconne/public_html/wp-content/themes/enfold/config-layerslider/LayerSlider/layerslider.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/solconne/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 4784

Warning: fread() expects parameter 1 to be resource, boolean given in /home/solconne/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 4787

Warning: fclose() expects parameter 1 to be resource, boolean given in /home/solconne/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 4790

More info. I think this for sure relates to my support message from earlier today: #793582

I see on a second site that layer slider message. It appears really low on the update page after I’ve made an update.

I can’t deactivate or delete layerslider. It came with Enfold, yes? It doesn’t appear in my plugins list.

    Hi,

Please send us a temporary admin login and login URL so that we can have a closer look. You can post the details in the Private Content section of your reply.

If you want to deactivate LayerSlider then you can try this in your functions.php file:

    add_theme_support('deactivate_layerslider');

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    OK. See private content.

    Hi,

Login details are not working for me, could you check and verify please?

    Best regards,
    Rikard

I just reset the password to what I gave you in the private content area.

    Hi,

Thanks for that, I got in now. Though I can’t see the warnings you listed, are they only happening when you actually update something? If you are not experiencing any actual errors then I think you can ignore the warnings.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

I don’t want to just ignore the warnings! I never used to get them and now I am and I want to know why I am getting them in the first place. They only happen with Enfold websites. It signifies that something is happening and finding out early could prevent future issues.

It only happens when I choose to update the plugins. In Private Content is another site that uses Enfold – it’s in development. Go ahead and login and update the plugins. I’m betting you will see the message at the end of the dashboard > updates.

Or you can just scroll up to my first message in this thread and read them there.

What’s so special about the functions.php file and lines 4787 and 4790?

    Hi Dandelion222,

I could not login with the last credentials. Could you please update the credentials.
Have you updates Enfold? Are you still getting those warnings?

    Best regards,
    Victoria

I’m sorry – I didn’t realize I would have to manually approve the new user through my security plugin. I have done so now. Please try again to log in, update, see the warnings at the bottom of the updates page. I think you will also see that the number of plugins to update will always stay as one.

    Hi,

Ensure that you`re using the latest version of the PHP (contact your host provider to ask about this) and the Enfold and plugins.

Let’s focus on 2 accounts for this question. One had PHP 5.4 the other had 5.6. I’ve just updated both to 7.0.
Both had updated Enfold themes and both had updated plugins. (As you will see – it is when I update the plugins or themes that I get the error message. )

I will re-submit login information for both sites in the private content section below.

You can login to update the plugs again if you need to see the error message first hand. Or, you can just look at what I pasted above.

    Thanks for checking into this.

The warnings appear for me after I update all the plugins. And the little red 1 in a circle shows as if a plugin needs updating even when there is no plug that needs updating. Please go back into one of the sites, go under Dashboard > Updates and select all of the plugins and update. It will automatically back up the site for me so let that happen. Then – when the plugins have updated, I think you will see the warning about Layerslider at the top of the updates page. And it will look like there’s still one plugin to update (because of the red dot next to plugins.)

    Hi Dandelion222,

With Enfold 4.0.7 the Layer Slider is of the latest version ( at least so far ), so you will not get that one ghost plugin update.
WP Hummingbird plugin did not update and that’s why there is a 1 next to plugins.

    Best regards,
    Victoria

    #800634

I’ll follow up on your advice and let you know how it goes. Thanks!

    #800636

I just noticed that the release date on Hummingbird plugin was May 25th. And this thread was started on May 15th. And it was an issue for a couple of weeks before I wrote to you. So I don’t think that was why there was the number 1.

But it does look like Enfold resolved the layer slider thing with the 4.07 release. I updated all my plugins on a third Enfold site, and updated the theme too and the problem is gone. Thanks!

Dang! It’s happening again! On a site with the all the plugins updated, an updated theme, the latest version of WordPress. I have deactivated the WPMU plugins. The error message references layer slider specifically, and it references always those same lines of the functions.php file.

There are no line numbers in WordPress through. How can I at least find out what those lines of the functions file say?

Layerslider is not listed as a plugin. So I can’t specifically update that.

    Please help!

    Hi Dandelion222,

It’s the same story, Layer Slider has a new version, which will be available in the next version of Enfold. So please be patient and wait for the update, unless something is not working on your website. Than please describe the issue in more detail.

    Best regards,
    Victoria

    #809934

    Okay. Thanks for the update.

    #845460

I am having this exact same problem as of today. Any idea when the release / fix will happen?

    #847414

    Hi,
There is no date set yet, but there is a lot of action on it, so it seems like it will be soon.

    Best regards,
    Mike
