We are having serious issues with the Advanced Layout Editor. When we try to edit the homepage, it shows up blank in the editor and if we switch to gutenberg or the classic editor it does show the code. Then if we decide to just wipe it all out and start over, we add a Media Element and then when we click on it to edit it, it gives us an error, “It seems your are no longer logged in. Please reload the page and try again”. I have turned off all plugins and tried again and we still get the same error. Do you have any idea of what’s going on?
We also posted on themeforest, but saw that you point people here at times, so Im posting here also :)

June 10, 2020 at 9:12 pm #1221415Hey nogcenvato,
Could you please attach a screencast of the issue?
Can you give us temporary admin access to your website in the private content box below, so that we can have a closer look?
Best regards,

Thanks for that. What happens if you deactivate the Classic Editor plugin? You don’t need it as the same functionality is available for you in the main page of the theme options.
Best regards,
RikardJune 11, 2020 at 5:13 pm #1221798I just added it to see if that would help, but it didn’t. Ok I didn’t know the theme could control that. But yeah I just added it so the problem I told you about was there before the plugin.
June 13, 2020 at 5:41 am #1222262Hi,
Thanks for the update. I can’t reproduce this problem on a local installation, and we don’t have any customers with the same problem, so it must be something local on you installation. Could you deactivate or remove the Classic Editor plugin as you don’t need it please? We can do it for you if you give us permission to do so.
Best regards,
RikardJune 15, 2020 at 9:05 am #1222567I have deleted it. Feel free to do some more tests.
June 16, 2020 at 4:24 am #1222895Hi,
Thanks for the update. Could you enable debug mode in order to see builder shortcodes, so that your content can be copied to a test page please? https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/intro-to-advanced-layout-builder/#debug-mode. We can do it for you if you give us permission to do so.
Best regards,
RikardJune 16, 2020 at 9:48 am #1222942Yes you have permission to turn on debug mode.
June 17, 2020 at 6:05 am #1223229Hi,
Thanks for that. I turned on debug mode, then copied all your shortcodes to a new page and that seems to be working, please see private. If everything checks out there then you can either copy all the shortcodes to your current home page, or edit the test page I created and set that as your home page instead.

RikardJune 18, 2020 at 2:03 am #1223553Hmm.. I had tried this before and I still got the error. So what did you do differently? Plus it doesn’t look like it’s actually parsing the data so that we can edit it with your editor.. it’s just showing the shortcodes. For example on that example page that you created, when you drag in a 1 column module, then drag in the Accordian slider, then click on it to edit it.. do you get that error message?

June 18, 2020 at 10:23 am #1223638Hi,
Thanks for the update. I tried what you described on the test page, I added a 1/1 block with an Accordion Slider inside of it, but I can’t see any error messages when I try to edit it. Is there a step I’m missing maybe?

RikardJune 20, 2020 at 3:21 am #1224206Maybe there is something wrong with the users then? Im giving you a link so that you can view the screencast that I created of the problem.
June 20, 2020 at 12:52 pm #1224263Hi,
Thanks for the video, I still can’t reproduce those results though. It could very well be something wrong with your accounts, could you try using the one you gave us to see if you can reproduce the problem maybe?
Best regards,
RikardJune 23, 2020 at 10:08 am #1224798Yeah I did create an admin account and everything works, so there is something wrong with our other accounts.. which we never had that problem before. Would you have an idea of where to look? I went through the user meta and deleted items that the new account didn’t have and yet it still didn’t work. Any other places to look? Oh and I did delete cookies also.
June 23, 2020 at 11:05 pm #1224960Ok I found the problem and you can now test and see the problem we were having. If you are assigned more than one role. for example Im an Administrator and a customer since I purchased something in the store and I guess WooCommerce added the customer role to me also. Once I deleted that customer role and am now just an Administrator again, it now works. I added customer to your account so that you can test. It looks like you need to test the role of the user in a better way so that this doesn’t happen?
June 24, 2020 at 4:08 am #1224998Hi,
Thanks for the update. I can reproduce the problem you are describing now, I also see that nothing gets saved in the Layout Builder when either publishing or saving the page as a draft. Are you seeing that on your end as well?
Please try installing this plugin in order to clear all WordPress transients to see if that makes any difference: https://wordpress.org/plugins/transients-manager/
Also, are we allowed to disable all plugins for testing purposes?
Best regards,

June 24, 2020 at 7:29 am #1225060Hi Rikard, please read the solution in my previous message to you. No need to turn off plugins etc. I already did that when I first ran into this problem and it didnt’ fix anything. Until I removed multiple roles from an administrator then that’s when it started to work.
June 24, 2020 at 3:40 pm #1225261Hi nogcenvato,
The theme does not rule the roles, it’s WordPress’s and role plugins domain, you might want to check the plugin’s support forums and documentation.
If you need further assistance please let us know.

VictoriaJune 24, 2020 at 8:59 pm #1225349Ok I need to figure out the direction you guys are going? Im a web developer and if I knew that any other plugin (especially if I was a theme developer) had issues with my theme, then I would see what I could do to accommodate as many plugins as I possibly could. WooCommerce is not the only plugin that assigns multiple roles to users, there are a lot of plugins that do that. if your theme does not work with a user that has multiple roles, then it seems like that would be a flag to me that I should look into it further.
It’s possible that Im misunderstanding what you’re saying though, so if I am, then I apologize. All I know is that if a user has multiple roles and every plugin is disabled, then your theme does not allow that user to edit it any longer. I would consider this a bug and your developers would want to know about this.
June 26, 2020 at 2:23 pm #1225824Hi nogcenvato,
I don’t think any user that has the customer role, and an admin role by should be able to login your website and be able to make changes. It is a security threat. Did you try other role combinations?
Best regards,
VictoriaJuly 1, 2020 at 11:27 am #1227223It’s actually the other way around. Im an admin and then I ordered something through woocommerce and I was also assigned as a customer, so I was an admin first and then they added another role, so I had two roles. At least that’s how I believe it happened. Once I removed the customer role so that I was only an admin then everything started working again.
July 5, 2020 at 9:43 pm #1228090Hi,
Thank you for the update.
The theme contains conditional tags which check if the current user can do a certain task like switching themes or installing plugins to confirm that the current user is indeed an administrator. It’s possible that by adding the customer role to the admin account, this check or conditions returns false or fails and create unexpected results. To avoid the issue temporarily, please use a different account when you’re testing the shop page and another when doing admin tasks, this is only until we find the actual cause of the issue.
