Image settings have changed. Image text size and position has changed. Font has changed. Changing slider to full-width removes the slider completely.
June 19, 2014 at 5:24 am #280986Hey Gary!
Thank you for the info.
From what version did you update the theme? The latest version includes the latest patch of the layer slider plugin. You might need to edit the layer sliders again.
Cheers!
IsmaelJune 19, 2014 at 12:28 pm #281173Once I added the custom CSS you gave me the LayerSlider is now fine except the full-width issue. The issue now is on my front page with the background images and font and text placement. I didn’t touch anything other than adding on the code that fixed the slider.
June 19, 2014 at 7:34 pm #281328Do you have any suggestions on how I am to correct the top slider on the homepage? In the LayerSlider Preview it is fine, as it always was until this latest update on the theme.
June 22, 2014 at 11:36 pm #282230Hi!
What custom css are you referring to? The only update that has happened with LayerSlider recently was moving from the version 4 to 5 which was a pretty substantial patch and I know most users needed to re-do a lot of their slideshows at that point. That patch was a few months back however.
Cheers!
DevinJune 22, 2014 at 11:43 pm #282233There was an update notice on Enfold to upgrade to, I think 3.9? That appears to be what’s causing all the grief. After the “upgrade” my LayerSliders were virtually destroyed. There was some text, but no images. It was a mess. Someone sent me custom CSS about images and, although I questioned why I didn’t need it before, I added it anyway. The LayerSliders now had images again but now my slider at the top of my homepage is all screwed up. The image height is wrong. The font is wrong. The text placement is wrong. All this and I didn’t tough a thing.
June 23, 2014 at 9:44 am #282335Hi!
Thank you for the info.
I’m really sorry but you need to edit the sliders again. There are a lot of code improvements on the latest layer slider patch and some of those might be related to the slider settings causing some of your previous options to be altered.
Best regards,
IsmaelJune 23, 2014 at 12:50 pm #282403The slider in question is the one at the top of my home page. When I look at the preview it is still perfect, but on the actual site it is a disaster. There is something very wrong with the code because, for example, the height of the text area and the background image are identical, but on the site the background image is short. In the preview the text font and position are perfect, yet, again, on the site they are not. It is impossible to edit something you cannot see.
You have login credentials. Look at the preview and you will see it is perfect, as it always was until this update of the theme.
June 24, 2014 at 2:25 am #282788It sounds like you need to go into that Layer Slider slideshow and then re-set the dimensions of what you want it to output on the front end. When LayerSlider changed to the newest version the interface and options changed pretty dramatically.
The developers of the plugin included code to upgrade the slideshows for users but we’ve gotten some reports like yours where the slideshow needed to get re-done a bit or settings re-done to make it work and look correct again.
June 24, 2014 at 2:34 pm #283038George tells me that he did nothing and he has no clue why these things are happening to the LayerSlider. The issue with what you are suggesting about editing is impossible because the dimensions are correct and always have been. The issues of the background image, font and size all only showed up after updating the theme.
Josue is a user on the site. Kriesi has asked for credentials. If you want me to add you please send me an email showing the address I need to use for your password to be sent to you.
This is all delaying my much needed launch of the site. It’s far too late to start over with a new theme, not to mention the hours and hours that have been invested in the Enfold theme so far.
June 25, 2014 at 10:22 pm #283800Hi!
I think your problem is based on the fact that images are by default responsive and text is not. Meaning if an image has less space it gets smaller in size, text however keeps its size and the line breaks just shift to a different position. This is causing all your problems. I have changed a few settings to see if I can get it to work and on my mac it looks just fine in front and backend: http://cl.ly/WH5j
However if I reduce the browser width to simulate a mobile device this does no longer work. The only solution I can think of would be to create an image that already contains the text so the text can scale as well…

KriesiJune 25, 2014 at 11:15 pm #283804Wow! It’s a real mess now. What I can’t understand for the life of me is that this was all fine until the latest update of the theme. If I create the LayerSlider and use the “Enter Preview” and it looks perfect based on my settings, why would it get completely messed up in any size other than full-width? That makes no sense what-so-ever. How ever would you design a slider? If I look at every other slider I’ve spent hours creating they are all completely messed up now. What a waste of time! I had a perfectly good website, but it wasn’t the now popular flat design, so I’ve invested in the theme and spent months redesigning it, only to now learn that it was all a complete waste of time. I can’t understand why there isn’t a GIANT disclaimer on your theme page stating that the oh so featured LayerSlider is completely useless with this theme.
June 25, 2014 at 11:55 pm #283814This reply has been marked as private.June 26, 2014 at 2:46 pm #284094Can I send you a screenshot of the Enfold theme slider? It’s now got the same mysterious code in the middle of it after the “update”.
June 26, 2014 at 5:39 pm #284181Hi!
please post a link to the screenshot here, if you dont want to make it available for the general public you can mark it as a private reply of course ;)
Truth to be told I am not sure if the layerslider team have changed anything with the recent updates (which we of course included into the theme) that would completely mess up your existing slides. only thing that I can say is that it worked perfectly for everyone else…
You can also ask them if they got a better solution than my idea to use images instead of text which would scale nicely on smaller devices…

KriesiJune 26, 2014 at 8:30 pm #284264How do I include a screenshot? I’ve tried everything. Just getting more and more frustrated. I don’t understand why someone there isn’t just logging in to see this mess? I’ve already added two users and I asked you for an email address to add you as well.
My website and my business are both on hold here. It’s very annoying when you keep saying it’s only me. That solves nothing and just serves to make me angry. The ONLY thing I did was update the theme because I got the prompt to do so. Suddenly getting code in the middle of a slide tells dumb old me that someone did something to screw it up. George just keeps telling me it’s not him, which also does me no good.
June 27, 2014 at 2:10 pm #284560Hi!
I did login (as I said before) and for me it looks exactly the same on back and frontend. I dont see any code mess…Frontend:
http://cl.ly/WH5jBackend:
http://cl.ly/WIinThe only problem I see is when the browser window gets scaled down, but I posted the easiest solution that I can think of above.
As for the screenshot: You can only link to images here. either upload them to your webspace or use an image service like http://imgur.com/ ;)
Best regards,
KriesiJune 27, 2014 at 4:47 pm #284643Thanks, Kriesi. I’m baffled, but pleasantly so. Now out of the blue my home page slider is perfect again in both Chrome and Firefox; however, others are not.
If you look at the slider for “Consultants” it looks to me like the image parameters are being completely ignored, possible as a result of the custom CSS code I was told to add maybe. The green “thumbs up” buttons are supposed to be 80px X 80px, but they are instead full-size. On the last slide there is a sign-up button on the last layer that doesn’t come in at all.

June 27, 2014 at 10:23 pm #284737Well, I’m convinced now that the custom CSS I was told to add is the root of the problem. I went into the slider and edited everyone of the images to resize them and now they’re all fine. I’m thinking I should remove that CSS code because I believe what it did was set all images at 100%, which is wrong and appears to have overridden the individual image settings in “style” on the slider.
June 30, 2014 at 7:47 am #285081Hey!
Glad you found the cause of the problem :)
Cheers!
PeterJune 30, 2014 at 12:50 pm #285152It was only an observation or possible cause. I haven’t removed the potentially offending code because I was told to add it. My concern was why I needed to add it after the update of the theme.
