issue with layout

Hi,
I am making a website and I keep getting stuck on a lay out issue. On the homepage there’s a green note where the latest 1 or 2 post have to be shown. The background can be the note, but a simple green color will also do. But no matter what I cannot seem te make sure that the colomns on all different devices are equal. Exept when I use colums, but then I can’t get the margins right. Can you help me with this?? It should look like the homepage now, but then with the latest post added and on mobile it should have less whitespace between the first and second column.

I’ve tried it with grid row and use a background color and also tried background picture. And I’ve tried working with columns and combination of grid and colums. See the different pages in the menu. I think it could be done with visual composer (using coloms wihtin coloms or a costum grid that refers to pages) but I would like to use your theme.
