I would like to change the default media folder to a shorter folder-name and less “wordpressy” for exp. “media”.

    1) Are there any serious reasons not to do that ?
    2) If there are no serious reasons, which method can you recommend ?

With wordpress 4.4. there is no menu setting to change the default folder any longer. I tried to use following methods, but get malfunction with the theme:

    1) in wp-config.php – file: define(‘UPLOADS’, ‘media’);
Result: Theme background changes from blue to white / transparent + content partly mixed up

    2) With Plugin “WP Original Media Path” same result, theme background white / transparent + content partly mixed up

I`m lucky to get some help,
    regards,
    flipss

    Hi flipss!

Here are some details on how to do it ( what you did was not enough )

Please give it a look and let us know if it works as you want it to.

    Basilis,
thanks for the quick response. Yes – I did it in the described way (insert before “require_one”). Look at the result in private link. The theme background color is gone… Before it was blue.

    Hey!

If you re-upload the image, does it work properly?

    Best regards,
    Basilis

    Basilis,
    you got it !
I reuploaded the logo (I wanted to do that anyway later) and the background seems to work properly now.
Very strange… can you tell me why ?
Now I reuploaded the other media-files.
    Site seems to work properly.
    Best regards,
    Michael

    Hi,

I’m not sure but I’m guessing it’s because you changed the path to the media library.

    Best regards,
    Rikard
