Hi,
I am looking to see if there is an easier way to transfer hundreds of blogspot posts which contain words and images into wordpress posts automatically or is it going to be a painstaking process of copy and pasting them all one by one?
I want to use Enfold site like an archive hub for various media including blogs from blogspot, videos from youtube and podcasts:
blogspot: https://armodoxy.blogspot.com
Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/InHisShoes
blogspot podcast: http://armenianorthodoxy.blogspot.comAny ideas?
Thanks,
GB

Are you looking to import posts which are not from another WordPress site? If so, I’m not aware of any solution for that unfortunately. There might be plugins available though.
Best regards,

July 28, 2022 at 11:20 pm #1359766Hello,
I hope you don’t mind me jumping in. I haven’t transferred a site from blogger to WordPress in a really long time, but there is definitely an easier way than copy and paste. In your blogger settings, there’s an option to import/export your data. Setttings/Other/BackUp I believe is the path. This will allow you to export your blog post, images, video, and anything else embedded in the posts as well as any comments to WordPress. Keep in mind, that you will lose all your formatting and personal settings. They’re two different platforms, so naturally, the formatting will be different but the content will be the same.
Here is a brief, how-to guide, from WordPress. https://wordpress.com/support/import/coming-from-blogger/
Hope that helps!
SozJuly 28, 2022 at 11:29 pm #1359767Hi Sozo,
Thanks a lot for that link, I will be trying this out and see how it goes, I am using the Church theme / Enfold as a base and hope the formatting / design of posts stay the same?
I also wonder about tags for each of the 100’s of blogger posts, I guess it will be a manual walk thru?
Lastly, is there a similar approach for youtube videos?
Thanks!!

July 29, 2022 at 12:05 am #1359771Hello Again,
Unfortunately, your post formatting will not transfer over to the new WordPress site. The Title will go where the title goes and the content of the post will go where that’s supposed to go, but there will be no formatting. The word transfer is plain text and any images or videos or other content will be at the end of the post, not inline where you had placed it. It will, unfortunately, be a little messy, but the important thing is the contents will be there and you won’t be forced to copy and paste. This will at least afford you the opportunity to take your time and reformat those posts however you’d like in the new Church theme. I know it’s a painful process, but I think you’ll end up liking the results better.
So YouTube videos: If you already inserted them (embedded) into a post, those will transfer over with everything else to WordPress. As I mentioned, those will be inserted at the end of the post with any images and other embedded or attached content.
If however, you’re looking to bring all of your Youtube content over to a specific page, there are lots of options for you. WordPress has a repository of plugins, which are, essentially, things that enhance your site in various ways be it functionality, design or service. There are many Youtube plugins (paid and free) that allow you to display your videos in many different layouts. This plugin https://www.yotuwp.com/demo/ has both a free and paid version, and the link I shared will give you an idea of the possibilities. The theme itself, allows you to insert a video into a post as well, or you can simply copy and paste the youtube video code as well. You have lots of options.
As for the podcast, I noticed in the link you shared that not all of the posts had audio attached. The player was there but the numbers were zeroed out, which means the attached audio is missing or the link itself is broken. If the audio is there, it will transfer as I mentioned above. If there is no audio file to transfer then there’s nothing to transfer and the post will just word and no audio.
As far as tags, If I remember correctly, they do transfer but require formatting. I believe they are inserted at the end of the post, with the other media and then you’ll need to insert them into WordPress’s tag structure.
Good Luck! Hope that helps a bit. Let us know how it goes.
