Hello Enfold support team,
I just bought your theme a few month ago and finished my website. In the meanwhile you published a new update to version 4.5.7.
I read a lot of topics from users having problems after installing the update also it seems not so easy to install. I spend weeks to fix all kind of minor problems on my website especially problems with slideshows and images showing in lower resolution, resizing wrong and so on. Now that I have the website finally running I don’t want to risk to ruin everything again just because of this update.
So my questions are:
1. How easy is it to install the update? I am not familiar with Child themes and don’t want to spend another 4 weeks just to understand how to create those and install it properly.
2. Does the update overwrite all settings which were made for the Header, Footer, etc.? What settings are kept after the update?
3. I have some minor adjustments made through the quick CSS window. Can I just copy paste them in the updated version and everything will work like before?
4. Can I still run WordPress updates even I am not on the newest version of Enfold?
5. What happens if I stop updating and just leave everything as it is now? Is the website going to stop working in a couple of months years?I hope you can answer my questions above. Thank you very much.
Best regards

On WordPress – there is a nice backup Plugin called “Duplicator” – which is good for a backup – and to migrate a site completely.
( it will create two files – an installer.php file and a zip file with all of your site – including database etc. pp)if you want to be on the save site – with a rollback solution: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/some-hints-and-advice-to-update-enfold/#post-1056107

Please read the advice from @guenni007. To sum your questions up; you should not lose any of your settings or custom CSS, but like with all updates, you should always keep proper backups of the site in case something goes wrong. The safest way to update is to do it on a staging site first, then update the production site after that.
Best regards,
