Is Brightbox compatible with PHP7? Or is it being phased out as it doesn’t seem to be for sale on the website anymore?

It is compatible, but it does not get any major updates anymore. You might want to consider Enfold, it’s very versatile and you can build many beautiful websites with it. Here are some demos:
