So … I attempted to update Enfold manually via FTP, per the provided instructions. My version was really outdated.

I’ve updated a theme manually before and never run into the problem I now have.

Downloaded the current version, created an “enfold” folder in the “themes” subfolder, unzipped the theme file, and sent the new files to the new folder. Problem! FTP created a second “enfold” sub-folder inside the first which I am unable to get rid of! I tried to install the file via the regular “add a theme” procedure and got error messages.

At some point in the process while trying to update, I got the “Fatal error: Can’t use function return value in write context in /home/user/public_html/wp-content/themes/enfold/header.php on line 6

Purchased a support update, but not sure what that will do. Until I tried to update it, it was working.

    What can I try next?

Thanks for any suggestions anyone has!
