I see that your site is up and running so I’m guessing you rolled back to 4.2? If you want to make sure that you won’t compromise your productions site, then I would recommend that you create a staging version of your site and perform the update there first. If you do that and you still get the error then we can have a look at it and your production site would still be running without any problems.

Thanks for your answer!
Ok, i will do that! What is the differen about a staging site and child theme?
Best regards
KathrinMay 16, 2018 at 6:13 am #957312Hi Kathrin,
A child theme is overriding the parent theme on a single installation, it’s in place to be able to edit things without them being overwritten on updates.
A staging site is copy of your actual site, you can use it to for instance perform updates to check that nothing breaks before you update your production site. The staging site should optimally be place on the same server, in a sub directory for instance.

Thanks!
But to me it sounds like, a child theme would be better for me! What do you think!I Mean a copy of my acutal side a have as a backup. And i understood, that if i do an update i have to fix the productionside anyway, because the staging side just shoes me what breaks. Is that true?
Best regards
