Hi there,
I’ve tried to insert shortcodes or php codes within the advanced editor and realised it does not work. Is there an alternative way to insert such codes besides using “Insert PHP” plugin as I faced an error while using it with your theme and decided to forgo the option. Thanks.

You have to put your shortcodes inside a Text element.

Thanks for the help. It works! However, just to clarify… Does the short code insertion only works for a Text Block? So if I intend to use say a IconBox, it will not work? Do let me know.. Thanks!

You can use this plugin: http://wordpress.org/plugins/insert-php/
This will enable you to insert php codes directly on the Text Editor. Instead of using “<?php CODE HERE ?>”, you need to use “[insert_php] CODE HERE [/insert_php]”.
Cheers!

Would there be a way to work through the Advanced Editor or I have to work through the Default Editor?

You can do this using the Advance Layout Builder. I tested it using the Text Block element.

Thank you for the notice. I guess the other question I have is that what codes will return a portfolio item / post tags as a previous reply from Josue only provided a print-reply from the website of “Array” instead of the tags itself.
Much appreciated.

I’m not quite sure what you mean. To output portfolio items you would use the portfolio item element from the advanced layout editor. If you aren’t able to add an element or shortcode within another one right now its because the theme does not have coding in place to allow for that kind of nesting.
Cheers!
DevinDecember 2, 2013 at 6:22 pm #195392Hi Devin,
For me, I wasn’t able to successfully use any shortcodes within the Advanced Editor interface. Thus, I’ve used another method through enabling a PHP insert plugin and somehow find another way to write some codes to solve the problem. However, through my testing, not all shortcodes work on my end.. Not too sure why.

Robert ChaiDecember 4, 2013 at 4:24 am #195950It seems like there is a misunderstanding of the root issue. There should be no reason why you would need to wrap regular shortcodes inside php if all you are trying to do is add in shortcodes.
What do you mean by default shortcodes and in what instance is it not working specifically?
Portfolio shortcodes have no support being nested inside any other element except columns/color sections so if that is the end goal we wouldn’t be able to help with that. Same with color sections and Layer Slider elements.
December 5, 2013 at 3:02 am #196469Hi Devin,
I apologize for my misunderstanding. What I meant was either to insert PHP codes or shortcodes into the Advanced Editor, as either or would provide a solution to solving problems to insert some modular code into the page / post.
A list of some of the shortcodes I have attempted was from here … http://en.support.wordpress.com/shortcodes/ or probably I didn’t get the method of inserting the codes properly.
Thanks for informing me about the limits with the Portfolio options. At least now I’ll just have to rethink on methods to work around it. ;)
Cheers!

December 6, 2013 at 5:15 am #196839Hi Devin,
Thanks so much for the tip. I guess then that is a fault on my end to assume it will work normally. Nonetheless, thanks for being such a great help! Cheers!
