Hello, I’ve tried just about every solution I can find from the forums and I continue to receive the following error:

“Importing didnt work! you might want to try reloading the page and then try again”

I have tried increasing the memory limit, and max-memory limit for admin. I’ve tried different browsers, clearing cache, and disabling all plugins. I’ve checked the server settings for cpanel and everything is fine. We have multiple other Enfold development sub-domain sites working off the same domain with no issue. I have purchased and installed Enfold countless times and have come across this issue before on a few other theme imports. The “Construction” theme seems to never work on import and now the “2017” theme does not work either (it has happened on a couple of other theme imports but I can’t remember which ones now.).

This issue seems to only crop up on some of the demo imports. I recently installed the “Band Theme” and everything went smoothly. In this particular instance I’m trying to install the 2017 theme. When this happened the first time I contacted you regarding the “Construction Theme” import issue I was having. After you had tried unsuccessfully to troubleshoot the issue, you had sent me the xml files to do an import through wordpress. Importing through wordpress did not work either – it simply just stalled and went nowhere so I ended up just restoring a site from a different client that had used that same theme and carried on with the project so there was never really any resolution to the problem.

We absolutely LOVE this theme and have purchased over 30 licenses due to it’s stability and flexibility. We have multiple projects coming up that are slated to use this theme as well, but if we are not able to successfully import the different theme variations it will not be a viable theme for us to use for our upcoming projects. Hopefully we can figure this out as I really don’t want to switch to another theme!

I’ve added an admin account for you to troubleshoot through. Please let me know if you require any further permissions or information.

Thank you, I look forward to your reply.

Omg…I can’t believe I forgot the most important piece of information! Sorry about that. Here’s the URL.

    Hi,

Thanks for the login details. I tried importing the Construction demo and I get that error as well. It seems like the server can’t handle the import as it returns a 500 internal server error on the admin-ajax.php WordPress file. Maybe you could try contacting your hosting provider to see if they can see why the import causes that error?

    Best regards,
    Rikard

I have the same problem. Yesterday it just worked. Since today it’s impossible for me to import any demo data. Tried it a serveral times. No chance. Would love to see a update too.

This was never really resolved for me. It used to work on our server and then it just started throwing that vague error. The demo import on one or two would still import like before, but most will not work (I think the band demo did import). I ended up having to use a completely different server to do the demo import and then move everything over to our work server. Pain it butt for sure and adds extra time to a project, but was spending hours and hours troubleshooting with no success (not to mention the frustration) so I just gave up.

We’re using Enfold less now on our projects due to the extra step involved, which is unfortunate because I love the theme. If this ever does get resolved, please let me know.

    Hi,

Sorry for the problems, it’s usually the max_execution_time variable which causes this problem, because downloading the demo files will take longer than it’s allowed to. But maybe you could try importing the demo manually? If you will find instructions in private.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hi Christian,

Let us know once you tried importing the demo using xml, if that doesn’t work, please give us ftp access, so we can check further and try to debug.

    Best regards,

    Hi Nikko,

right now i had no chance to import the demos from your backend by clicking one of the layouts. I had a little success to configure the php.ini on the server. But i could only put 120s max on the “max_execution_time”. Right now i have more visible pictures and effects than before. I think i would need another 30 or 60 seconds to finish the import.

    Hi Christian,

Glad that you’re having progress, adjusting it to a longer time should help as what you have stated. Let us know if you need further assistance :)

    Best regards,
    Nikko

    #923884

The Problem isn’t really solved right now, because my hoster only allows max. 120s. Why does it need so much time to import the demos? Will be thankful for any help.

    #923925

    Hi Christian,

I can’t really tell why it needs much time on your host, usually it would be done importing for several seconds. The only alternative solution I can think of is import via xml.

    Best regards,
    Nikko

    #923931

Can you tell me how i can fix that?

    Hi,

Defining a higher memory limit in WordPress and if possible increasing the memory on the hosting server should resolve this issue.

To increase the WordPress memory limit please access wp-config.php file and add the below line

    define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M');

For a detailed explanation please check this link http://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp-config.php#Increasing_memory_allocated_to_PHP
and you can contact your service provider to increase the memory limit.

Alternatively demo data can be imported using XML file from Admin > Tools > Import > WordPress
Make sure to check the option “Download and import file attachments” while importing.

Please note this will not import the theme settings you may need to set them up and upload if any images are missing from backend once the XML file is imported.

    Hi,
I write here what i wrote in my thread because i’m having the same issue : CAN’T IMPORT DEMO THEME !!!

what is going on with this theme ?

    HEEELP PLEASE
(see my thread here : https://kriesi.at/support/topic/default-demo-error-message-at-import/)

    Thks

    #1140975

    Hi Raphael,

https://cl.ly/6acb0cfa3052 Default demo is Enfold 2017, please do not make duplicate threads to avoid confusion.

    Tyr importing this file
    /enfold/includes/admin/demo_files/enfold-2017.xml

    Best regards,
    Victoria

    #1140980

i’m the one who is confused here.
i’ve done it already with the xml file included in the theme (default demo xml file is missing) and didn’t work neither : nothing happens when importing manually the XML file.

I’m sorry but this is not what is written in your theme once installed : it says DEFAULT DEMO for the original one, and ENVELOPPE 2017 for the other one (french version). See it in the admin panel. In a previous thread about this issue, the moderator linked to all xml files in a dropbox (broken now) and the xml file was called default.xml

Please provide a solution so that i can import the demo theme i bought, not another one.
Any information needed just ask i will be delighted to provide.
    Thank you
    Raphael

    #1141002

Ok, I culd fix it, There was two problems, first that I tryed import the them (enfold) directly from de Zip that I downloaded from the Themeforest site, Inside the Zip there was another zip called Enfold that works perfectly.
The second problem whith import the demo Band had to do with my api Token that.
    Tanks

    #1141601

Well done Raymonbil ! You found a solution by yoursel, just as me :) I had to found my way out of the issue, 2,5 days of work to find my own solution… Look my thread here https://kriesi.at/support/topic/default-demo-error-message-at-import/

This support forum just doesn’t work, and Victoria can’t answer 100 threads per minute… 4 jobs open for support (http://jobs.kriesi.at/) at this time means Kriesi needs help to support ENFOLD THEME !!!

    #1141818

    Hi,

    Thank you for the update.

Is there anything else that we can help you with? Looks like you have successfully installed the theme. Please don’t hesitate to open a new thread if you need anything else.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

    #1142167

Yes I have done my friend but without your help,I´m not too happy about this support forum, in my opinion it has been too slow and nothing clear, like if you dont know how to fix the mayority of our problems.
I hope this can improve in the future.
    Best regards

    Raymon

    #1142271

I fully agree with Raymonbil, we have paid for a theme AND 6monts support and either we dont get support or when we do it’s 2, or 3, or 4 days after when the issue has been solved by ourselves or avoided when not solved. And when you answer you bring no new solutions. This is not normal for a service we have paid for.
    Regards
    Raphael

    #1142613

    Hi,

Sorry about that. We’ll do our best to help you better in the future. And please note that you will always have a higher chance of getting a response when you open your own thread or ticket.

Thank you for your understanding and patience.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

    #1142637

    Hi Ismael,
Thank you for answering. But i’m sorry to say that this is not what happened in my case. As you can see in the first ticket i opened (https://kriesi.at/support/topic/default-demo-error-message-at-import/#post-1140703) i didn’t get any answer until 2,5 days after…. precisely i got an answer quicker when i wrote a message in here….

And i wrote here because the support system is presented as a forum which means i’m not supposed to open a new thread for an old issue (this thread is open since November 15, 2017).

In the end, everybody is lost in here : moderators (it must drive you crazy), the support system is a mess, and in the end we, customers, don’t get the answers we need and we must found our way around to keep our own customers happy with quality and time to market…

Hope this will help in improving your system : transform the forum into a knowledge base and deploy a proper support system.

Best regards and respect to the moderators team.
    Raphael
