    Dear Kriesi-Team,

we need your help, please. We have uploaded two portrait images (1700×1700) and want them to be displayed as 300×300. When we choose this size, the images displayed are not sharp at all. They are, however, if we choose the original size.

We have browsed for a solution in the documentation and forum, but we didnt find what we are looking for. Can you kindly help? We provide you with a temporary login and the URL to the site, we are referring to.

    Hey DIE-PR-BERATER,

I can’t see much difference between the two images, except for the size of course. Please see private. What exactly do you think is unsharp?

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hey Rikard,
thank you for your response. You don’t see the difference? The issue from our perspective could be: The 300x300pixel (2.5×2.5cm) image is displayed bigger than it should. If you measure an image of that size and compare it to what is displayed, you can see the difference. Hope, that helps?

    Hi Ruven,

Thanks for the update. So the problem is not the image resolution, it’s what is displayed in the actual image? If so then did you try to edit the image in software like Photoshop to make it 300×300, and then upload it and use that image instead?

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hi Rikard,
yes, exactly – that is the problem, we experience.
We tried to upload the exact resolution and display its in “original size”, but it didnt help. Is it possible to display an image in a 300×300 size, but maintain a higher resolution? (Not optimal for performance, but that could be a workaround) Do you see any other way?

    Hi Ruven,

Thanks for the update. The original image which is being used there looks identical to what I see on the front end, so I don’t think there’s anything going wrong to be honest with you. I wanted to check for other version and test them instead on the backend, but the login token seems to have expired. Could you renew it please?

    Best regards,

    Dear Rikard,
we updated the token, it should work again. I am adding a screenshot to explain in more detail: The image viewer shows the original size of the image (300×300) and it looks fine. The website next to it increases the size of the image, but the resolution (300×300) remains the same. We believe, this is what creates the blurry impression.
Thanks for your patience and support!

    Hi Ruven,

Thanks for that. I did a side by side comparison from the file in the media gallery and what I see on the front end, and I do see a slight difference in the resolution, please see private. What happens if you disable the Compress JPEG & PNG images plugin and upload the image again? Also please try uploading them in the 300×300 resolution, they ones in your media gallery are currently 600×600.

    Rikard

    Hi Rikard,
disabling Jetpack and Tinypng for images of that size helped a bit, but was not the 100% solution. We combined it with this wokaround: We used the 600×600 version and styled it to 300×300 via CSS.
Thanks for your help! Please close the topic.
