On my home page (link in private section) the featured images are show the full images even though I have them in a small size.
On the actual blog single page (link in private section) the image is cutting off the heads of the people in photo. Is there a way to retain the image width and height proportions?See private date for admin login and links.
March 3, 2015 at 1:35 am #404872Hi voice903fm!
which feature images do you mean? do you mean the images in your layer slider? please show us on screenshots what you mean. You can use imgur.com to host screenshots. Your layer slider images you can control in layer slider settings.
For the image on your blog (without head) you can use this plugin to control image sizes: https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-image-sizes/

AndyMarch 3, 2015 at 7:42 pm #405350Yes Andy the image on my blog (without head). I installed the plugin you suggested but I want to make sure I activate the resizing for the correct images. I read on the plugin page that this plugin destroyed so many people sites by resizing all their images that they’d customized already to look correct.
Do know have any suggestion to help me through this process?
PROBLEM: When I make a blog post and select Featured Image, if the image is very large, when I post the blog the heads are cut off. If the image is originally a small image I see the entire image.
GOAL: To have any large Featured Image to display cropped smaller but see the entire image.
How to I setup this plugin so when I add a Featured Image it display the full image even if it’s cropped to a smaller size then the original?
KEEP IN MIND: I’ve done a lot of customizing to get my site and thumbnails to look the way they do and don’t want run resize and mess up everything.Admin access is already in private data section.
March 5, 2015 at 3:14 am #406187Hi!
You need to go to Settings > Media and increase the maximum height of the
entry_with_sidebar
size (the one used in single posts) to something like 600px (default value is 321) so your square images can be show at full, remember to regenerate the thumbnails after doing that.Regards,
JosueMarch 10, 2015 at 5:48 pm #408972Josue, I’ve tried multiple times to regenerate the thumbnails and the process always freezes up. I Unchecked everything except the entry_with_sidebar size and I selected POSTS as the post type to regenerate.
After the freeze I hit save changes and try again. Same thing. I know you said the default is 321 but when i looked my setting said 600 already from the time I install the plugin. Can you take a look into this? Admin detail are in the private section of original post above.
March 10, 2015 at 7:10 pm #409021Hi!
It’s 600 because i changed it the first time i logged in, i also regenerated the snowmobiling post image, you can see it is no longer cropped. Regarding the “freeze” try regenerating them in Media > Library (activate List view).
Cheers!
JosueMarch 10, 2015 at 8:37 pm #409066Ok Josue, just so I’m on the same page with you and I don’t resize all my images. Are you saying go into Media > Library (activate List view) and then select manually all the images that are in blogs then regenerate them with the bulk action or do them individually? I did the Melisa Morgan Interview one individually and it worked.
KEEP IN MIND: I’ve done a lot of customizing to get my site and thumbnails to look the way they do else where on the site and don’t want run resize those and mess up everything else too. I only want to resize the Large Featured images in the BLOGS only.
March 10, 2015 at 9:11 pm #409092Hey!
Bulk resizing would be quicker but if you are experiencing freezing you’d need to do it individually. I don’t think this would cause any collateral damage to be honest, but to be extra sure go to Settings > Media and re-check that each image size is the correct one, also, you can use this plugin to backup your current Media Library before doing the regeneration:

JosueMarch 10, 2015 at 9:28 pm #409105Ok tell me this, if I do it manually this time will it be done automatically the next time I make a new blog entry?
March 10, 2015 at 10:48 pm #409583Correct, from now on when you upload a new media file it will be resized to the sizes set in Settings > Media.
Cheers!
JosueMarch 11, 2015 at 8:32 pm #410080Perfect! Done! You may close this thread. Thanks Josue.
