    If you update the Enfold theme, does this effect the “functions.php” file? I’ve added a lot to this file.

    Hey bemodesign,

    If you are not using a child theme then yes, it will be overwritten. http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/portfolio-item/create-a-child-theme/

    Ok. If the only thing I have updated is the functions.php file, can’t I just upload the one with my settings after the new version is added or is it better to add the functions.php file to the child theme?

    Hi,

    It is better to use a child theme as uploading a backed up functions.php file to a fresh update could cause unforeseen conflicts if some of the theme code and functions have been updated.
