Hello, I have used icons on my website. However, I have noticed that a sometimes, the icons uses a different font instead of entypo-fontello and I see chinese characters instead of the icons. When I inspect element, i see this message: CSS3117: @font-face failed cross-origin request. Resource access is restricted.

    Thank you.

    Hey kevindahari!

Please do add the following to your .htaccess file

    Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *

let us know if that worked out for you.

    Cheers!

    Hi Basilis,

I am having the same issue.

I don’t know how to inspect the element, however instead of the icons I am seeing Chinese letters.

Should I be doing the same (ie. adding the suggested text to the .htaccess file?) If so, how do I do that?

    Thanks.

    Dear Basilis,

    Thank you for your reply.

    Hey!

You can add it to the bottom – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/enable-cors/

    Thanks.

I assume that if you’ve told me to add that to the bottom then I am running Apache?

And where do I find the WordPress installation that contains the .htaccess file?

    Thanks.

    #542979

    Hey!

You can find it in the root of your WordPress installation (where you have your wp-config.php file etc. ). Please make sure that you choose to display hidden files.

    Cheers!

Sorry Yigit – I am new to this. Where do I find the WordPres installation? Is this in the admin panel?

    #543001

    Hi!

No, you should find it via FTP. You would need a FTP client such as https://filezilla-project.org/

    Sorry, this is very unclear.

All I am trying to do is have the Fontello icons I uploaded load.

It is very unclear what I am supposed to do in FileZilla now that I’ve downloaded it.

    Please can you explain.

    Hey!

    @eviang
Please create a new thread and post FTP credentials privately. If you post them here, OP would be able to see the content.

    Hi Yigit,

I’m happy to start a new thread, but part of the problem is I do not know what my FTP credentials are? I am not familiar with FileZilla or how to use it. I do not know how to connect it to my website? My understanding was that all content was stored in the cloud via WordPress? If there is something I need to do please can you explain what that is.

    Thanks.

    Hey!

You can contact your hosting provider and they would provide you with your FTP credentials if you do not know them. You can use a FileZilla or similar software to connect to your server to edit files.

The site is not live yet. I am still designing it in WP. As far as I understand it is still being hosted by WP until I move it over to my hosting company.

Is there no other solution to the Fontello issue? This seems like a very roundabout way of solving what I imagine is quite a simple problem?

    #543042

    Hey!

This is not a theme related issue and you should not have it as long as your are serving your icons under the same domain. You might not even need such such workaround when you launch your website.
Are you working locally? If not, you should have FTP access to your server.

    Cheers!

I select the Fontello icons I want to add. Then I download a zip file containing those icons. Then I upload that zip file to WP. Then I select that file to the Iconfont Manager in Enfold Theme Options.

It is the exact same process that I followed when it worked previously, and now it does not, displaying Chinese letter characters instead of the selected icons.

I do not know what you mean by working locally? The site is being built out on WP and is not yet hosted or live.

    #543111

Can you please advise how I am able to fix this problem.

    #543113

    Hi!

    @eviang
You are not providing any needed information to us. We cannot help you unless you provide us needed informations. You can contact your hosting provider and ask them how to locate .htaccess file.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but as far as I am aware the site is not currently hosted, nor is it live.

It is simply still in development in WP which is why I am struggling to understand the request for doing things that as far as I can understand can only be done if the site were currently being hosted.

If I am incorrect in my understanding of this, then please advise how I am able to contact my hosting provider in the absence of the site currently being hosted?

    Hi!

    @eviang
To reply, please start a new thread as we are currently discussing the situation on @kevindahari’s post.

Even if in development, your files are stored somewhere, either on your server or on your computer (localhost). When you start a new thread, please include WordPress admin logins into private content field. Those credentials should include URL (that is what you type in Address bar of your browser to go to your development site), username and password.

    Best regards,
    Yigit
