I clicked update theme, and then it said success. Then the entire site went down and I can’t even access the wp-admin page or view anything.

    What the heck happened?

Hi, I’m a beginner here so you should wait for someone more expert than me, but in the meantime I think you should provide more details.
Do you see a white page or an error message?
Are you able to access the FTP?

If I were you I would probably try to reinstall the theme via FTP.

Don’t worry, your contents are not gone.

“This page isn’t working brianjamessimmons.com is currently unable to handle this request.
    HTTP ERROR 500”

I only have the option to reload the page. I can access my site via FTP probably, but I do not no what to do after that….

Try to access via FTP. Go to the File Manager. From there open the folder called public_html, then open the folder wp-content. Rename the THEMES folder to something like THEMES2. Save and go back to your website to see if that fixed it.

That will probably fix the issue since you experienced it after updating enfold. Reinstalling Enfold should bring everything back to normal.

I removed enfold. And reinstalled and it gave me the error again. :(

Try to do the same thing with the Plugins folder. Rename it to Plugins2 and see if it’s that folder that’s causing the problem.

Any time I go to use Enfold (Live Preview or Actived) it brings my site down. Please help me.

    This didn’t help. Same problems.

I’m sorry but I think I cannot help with this one, especially from a distance. If you want to share your username and password for wp-admin with me I could try to better understand what’s your problem. You can find me on instagram with the same username if you’re not comfortable sharing your info here.

    Hi brianjamesrobot,

Sorry for the problem, which version of PHP are you using on the site? We recommend 7.1 or higher.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

Sorry for not responding with what I did yesterday, I had a friend take a look and he went into my cPanel and changed the version of my PHP. I had been using 7.2, but he chose 7.1 instead and it fixed it.

I had to adjust a few things on the Main Menu but all seems back to normal.

    Hi,

Great, I’m glad that you got it working again and thanks for the update. Please let us know if you should need any further help on the topic or if we can close it.

    Best regards,
    Rikard
