Hi, i’m trying to figure out how I can update the LayerSlider?
Thanks.
September 27, 2014 at 5:19 pm #325972Hi bakbek!
You would need to purchase a separate license and then you can add the purchase code into the Layerslider main options then update.
Regards,
DevinSeptember 27, 2014 at 6:23 pm #325984Doesn’t it come with the purchase of Enfold?
September 27, 2014 at 11:06 pm #326038The theme comes with a bundled version yes but not an individual license.
September 28, 2014 at 6:56 am #326087I tried both this method and a previously recommended in the forums here of copying the latest version over that in layerslider-config folder of Enfold. Neither worked. First shows a number for an update in WP, but nothing on the update page. Seems as it is not a stand alone plug-in but bundled, and the second messed up the admin page layout for LayerSlider.
It seems one can deactivate LayerSlider in the theme prior to installing the standalone. As per this thread…
https://kriesi.at/support/topic/layer-slider-not-working-3/
deactivating via functions.php.
Question is is how this affects the Advanced Editor integration? All my Layerslider are integrated via the Advanced Editor – the drop-down to select.
When reinstalling as a standalone, would all these sliders need to be manually reinserted and laid out?
Is there any danger of losing one’s previous sliders and their configurations in the Enfold integrated LS?
Would one need to export and re-import, all manual?Thank you for your response.
September 28, 2014 at 10:08 am #326120I tried Yigit’s code for deactivating the integrated LayerSlider in functions.php.
This indeed deactivated and removed LayerSlider – both from Admin Menu leftside, as well as LS buttons in the Advanced Editor.
I could then install LayerSlider as a stand alone. My previous settings displayed. I had exported my previous sliders just in case.Back end works fine, latest version of WP LayerSlider 5.3.1.
Front end: complete white screen.
Nothing at all of the site.
Didn’t work. Was hoping that installing standalone with latest version of LS would help solve a missing sliders in Safari on my live sites (they show in Firefox and Chrome just fine).
Please see this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/home-layer-slider-not-displaying-in-safari/
Any help appreciated. Will set it back as it was with integrated LS. Anything to do other than wait for the next Enfold update with latest LS?
Any assistance truly appreciated. Would like all live sites to display on all browsers.
Thank you.September 28, 2014 at 10:15 am #326121Update: On removing code from functions.php, the site displayed again.
Without having yet removed the standalone LS I had installed, it was still there at latest version and LS was back in Advanced Editor.
It seems the way to update is just to install the most recent version of LS via Plug-Ins Installer from your Code Canyon download. That does it. No updating through the already integrated LS settings page worked in my case.
Hope that helps any who are trying this as well.

September 28, 2014 at 10:28 am #326124It didn’t work on live site. It installed as above. But homepage LS disappeared, same as in Safari issue but now in Firefox, just top and bottom menu with white space in between.
Uninstalled standalone LS. Integrated reappeared in menu.
Slider is back in Firefox; still missing in Safari.
September 30, 2014 at 1:01 am #326906As far as I know, LayerSlider docs say you can simply add in the code into the plugin. If that doesn’t work I would first suggest checking with their support.
If you want to use it as a standalone plugin then yes it will deactivate the integrated features.
September 30, 2014 at 7:37 am #327053Thanks Devin.
Yes, in this case, it did activate and there was a number indicating an update in the WordPress admin soon after, however when one clicks on updates for plug-ins, it shows none listed there. I presumed that this was the plug-in is in the Enfold folder and not the normal plugins folder in wp-content. Yes, a LayerSlider team issue. Just wanted to pass on notes here and document what worked or didn’t for anyone else who was trying the same. (One always hopes one’s blunders saves times for others who need not repeat them ;) !)
None of my attempts to get it to work on my live server were succesful, as noted above. It did work on my local environment on Mamp Pro. Wonder if the issues caused by this are the result of outdated or just older php versions? My local uses 5.5.14. My previous host Media Temple which I was using on a Grid shared server used 5.3.27. I am migrating these sites to a new optimized site using php 5.5 as well, and will see if these LayerSlider issues will disappear.
Wonder if anyone has seen a minimum php version it requires?
Appreciate the response. Great to be able to pre-update the new LS releases – for those of us that have bought it – in advance of new integrated theme updates. Any one who has updated smoothly, would love to hear.
All best…
October 1, 2014 at 3:45 am #327820Seems like its a case of it needing to be fully deactivated/removed from the theme to run as a stand alone. I’ve never purchased it by itself so I assumed the field for updating within the plugin would work.
The 3.0 update rolling out today has the most recent version of LayerSlider included however.
