I am wondering what is the best way to update the Enfold theme? I have a site with a lot of customized settings so I would like to update the theme without going in and changing a bunch of settings and then checking to ensure all is well on the site. Is this possible if I upload the updated theme? I see mention of an auto updater but I am guessing that is not something I will see with an older version of the theme?
Thanks — appreciate any help.
April 14, 2016 at 12:26 am #613316OK, so in exploring the theme I discovered the theme updates on the Enfold options. Entered my username and themeforest API code. But don’t see any changes to the theme, so the site is still not working. Suggestions?
April 14, 2016 at 12:47 am #613322Hey!
If you are sure that your user name and API key are correct, please try updating the theme manually this time – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/updating-your-theme-files/ and you should receive auto updates later on.
What kind of changes have you made on the theme? If you have not modified any theme files, you are good to go :)
Cheers!
YigitApril 14, 2016 at 1:06 am #613340Thanks — I’ve just tried that and I am getting errors when trying to upload some files. I am using Filezilla, and get a message in red font that really stands out and it says that the file I unzipped can’t be open for reading?
April 14, 2016 at 1:10 am #613347I should say that it is only certain of the files that I am having trouble with. While other files are fine. I would love to know why the banner on the home page is not showing up, and why links from images on the home page to inner pages isn’t working.
April 14, 2016 at 1:11 am #613350Hi!
Have you followed the instructions on the video tutorial i posted above? :)

YigitApril 14, 2016 at 1:27 am #613365I think I did – this is the process I followed, and I received errors as mentioned above:
1) Click the download button and download the Installable WordPress file only” from theme forest
2) Unzip the folder
3) Open your Ftp tool and connect to your server.
4) Replace the folder: wp-content/themes/enfold with the theme files you have just unzippedApril 14, 2016 at 7:14 am #613525Hi!
If you have downloaded the theme from themeforest you should have the latest version. Please check in the theme option for the version number it should show 3.5.2 if not please create a temporary FTP and WP user with ‘administrator’ role and share in private content with permission to deactivate all plugins and add custom code if necessary to help you resolve this issue.

VinayApril 14, 2016 at 9:41 pm #614278Thanks Vinay — The theme option shows 3.5.2. But the portfolio items are not working properly and the header is also not working properly. I am uncertain how to fix it. Suggestions? Is there a problem with the theme update?
April 14, 2016 at 9:58 pm #614286Hi!
Could you please provide login details to your WordPress dashboard and FTP access or access to a cpanel, so that we can have a closer look. You can place the information in the Private Content section of your reply.

April 15, 2016 at 1:33 am #614448Hi!
Thanks!
They show up fine on my end, attached a screenshot in private content field. Please flush browser cache and refresh your page a few times – http://wiki.scratch.mit.edu/wiki/Hard_Refresh

YigitApril 15, 2016 at 1:40 am #614453Yes, the images show up but before WordPress updated, when you clicked on each image the portolio item would pop-up with info on the community. And a green button on the portfolio item could be clicked to go to any listings with community description, plus photo. Now, when any image on the home page is clicked it leads to a different link with no community info.
April 15, 2016 at 1:45 am #614456Hi!
That is how it works on my end. I strongly believe that it is still caching related issue. Can you please try to check your website on a incognito window using Chrome (CMD + Shift + N on Mac and CTRL + Shift + N on Windows)
Cheers!
YigitApril 15, 2016 at 2:02 am #614471Interesting, when I use Chrome I see that the issue is fixed. I tried the hard refresh in Firefox but it didn’t work. Not sure why. Any suggestions? It would be useful for me to know how to clear the cache in the event of future issues.
The other issue I need to worry about is the header on the home page. Before the WordPress update, it was fine. Now it no longer fits so that it doesn’t quite fit the space.April 15, 2016 at 7:12 am #614586There must be an issue with the Firefox browser. Works in Chrome, but even after doing the hard refresh in Firefox (several times) the portfolio items don’t work properly.
April 15, 2016 at 1:32 pm #614780Hey!
Any improvements? Site still does look fine on my end on all browsers :)
Cheers!
YigitApril 15, 2016 at 3:14 pm #614888It’s working! Boy is that a relief! Thanks for help :-)
