Just wondered how I can define the ‘Error 404 page not found’ page – I’d like to design a specific style with a full screen background image, with a simple message and a search box.

    Hi Niels!

Please go to wp-content\themes\enfold\includes folder and customize error404.php file

    Best regards,

OK, thanks Yigit. I did find that file, but decided not to touch it – I’m not really up to writing/editing PHP.

I was hoping there might be a 404 Error page I could edit (or create) in the same way as I can create other pages in Enfold.

Is it possible to do this, maybe calling it from within the error404.php file?

    Hi!

Pages like Search and Error 404 cannot be edited like normal pages. Your only way to edit them is to modifying files directly in theme folder.

    OK, thanks Yigit.

Would it be possible for me to design a page layout in Enfold/Avia as the 404 Error landing page and to edit the error404.php file to point to the newly designed page, so that users land there?

Update – I’ve found a plugin which will point any 404 page not found errors to my own purpose-designed 404 page. It’s called 404 Simple Redirect… http://jordiplana.com/404-simple-redirect-plugin-for-wordpress
