How to Send Email Using "mailto:"

We have been using Enfold for well over a year for our church web presence. One of our pages is a directory of staff with email support built-in. Both the hovering text and email action no longer function as they used to. For example, the hovering text should say “Email name” instead it says “‘Email” with no name and yes there is a single quote displaying before the word Email. Clicking the Email link no longer goes to a “mailto:” site but rather it tries to go to a nonexistent page on the church site and bombs. What has changed and what can be done to correct the undesirable behavior?
