I know how to do one or the other for a particular page on my website but is it possible to do both? i.e. hide the link to my blog (which I have done) and then if someone types the URL directly, it won’t be accessible without the appropriate password.
Reason for this is that I don’t want to delete the blog just yet but even though I have removed/hidden the link on my header, it still shows on Google search and fully accessible!
Appreciate your help.

Please edit your posts and make them password protected – http://i.imgur.com/iPnoKF5.png

YigitNovember 6, 2014 at 10:27 pm #347421But if I choose that, that would make the link visible – I want to hide it for now, AND if someone follows the link through Google, they still would not be able to access it. I need both – or another viable solution without deleting the entire blog section.
November 7, 2014 at 11:25 am #347657Hey!
What do you mean it will make the “link” visible? I’m sorry but can you please elaborate a little bit. Maybe you can set the post as Draft.
Cheers!
IsmaelNovember 7, 2014 at 12:14 pm #347679Currently the Blog page is set as Private, so no one can see the link on the header. BUT, if you Google search will list this link when you search for my website. I want to STOP people seeing this Blog page (and therefore all of it’s associated entries).
But I only have 3 options to do this:-
1) set the Blog page as private, which is what I have done but if you type myURL/blog it will still show the page, and so does Google search.
2) set it to password protect, but this will show the Blog link on the header – I don’t like this as you’re showing the site visitors a link only to not give them access.
3) delete the entire Blog content, which I’m not ready to do just yet.
So, I want it hidden AND unaccessible. Is that possible? Just to be clear, I’m referring to the entire Blog page, not individual entries!
November 8, 2014 at 2:35 am #348033Hey!
You can set the page as password protected. The link will not show on the main menu or header by default. Make sure that you set the main menu on Appearance > Menus panel as Enfold Main Menu.

IsmaelNovember 8, 2014 at 8:08 pm #348226I don’t understand the bit about how to set the main menu. When I go to Appearance > Menus, then what do I do? I can see greyed out links/pages with tick boxes on the left, then on the right, the option to create menu.
Just FYI, after changing the Blog to password protect (from private), it’s fully accessible – you can see the link on the header, AND able to click on all the entries, i.e. no password needed! Am I missing something?

Appearance->Menus->scroll down to “menu settings”->click on “Enfold Main Menu”
If you want to hide it from google I recommend to work with one of these plugins:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-seo/
https://wordpress.org/plugins/all-in-one-seo-pack/
https://wordpress.org/plugins/robots-meta/Normally they help you getting better to get found on google, but you can also choose to hide specific posts/pages.
