Hi,
I have set up a custom permalink structure in WP using /%category%/%postname%/
I made a parent page called “success stories” and applied the portfolio grid element.
When I view the pages from the success stories page, the breadcrumb trail is: http://www.website.com/success-stories/post-name
I also made a parent page called “newsroom” and applied the blog posts element and chose the category “newsroom” to show posts.
Breadcrumb trail: http://www.website.com/newsroom/post-name
Then I made another parent page called “blog” and applied the blog posts element and chose the category “blog” to show blog posts.
Breadcrumb trail: http://www.website.com/blog/blog/post-name
I can see where the issue is lying here now… The parent page “blog” should be something else to prevent duplication of “blog”.
If I rename the parent page to “our-blog”, the trail would say: http://www.website.com/our-blog/blog/post-name
Is this a best practice? When and where should we use “blog”? On the parent page or in the categories?
Thank you.
Hi avwebmaster!
It’s not common practice to use “blog” as a category. Categories are more for things like “travelling”, “art”, “work”, etc etc.
You could edit the blog page and click on the “Edit Permalink” button at the top to change it to something else.
Best regards,
Elliott
Thanks, Elliot!
