I all, on my site speed test (which runs awfully slow, sometimes more then 7 seconds to fully load a page), I am asked to “Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content.”
I am also given a message of “Your page has 1 blocking script resources and 3 blocking CSS resources. This causes a delay in rendering your page.”
Is this possible? How can I do it?
Thank you in advance.
February 2, 2017 at 6:09 pm #741955Hi!
Please try using a plugin such as this one – https://wordpress.org/plugins/autoptimize/

February 2, 2017 at 6:51 pm #741975February 2, 2017 at 9:53 pm #742037So this minified the CSS and JavaScript code but did not eliminate the render blocking JavaScript and CSS.
I followed Envy tutorial video and actually had better pagespeed and performance before following those instructions. After following them, I lost one points in both mobile and desktop load speed. The content my web pages also would be really huge when the page first loaded after following the steps in the video.
Any advice?
s there not a way to make your CSS and JavaScript not be render blocking? Obviously there is a reason that it is in support of the theme, I would just like to find a fix.
February 4, 2017 at 8:06 am #742695Hi,
I’m sure there is some kind of way to do it, but I think it will take you a lot of time and effort to do so. Please read through this thread first: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/seo-google-page-insights-blocking-rendering-ressources-above-the-fold/

RikardFebruary 4, 2017 at 4:05 pm #742834Hi Rikard. Honestly, after researching it, it is not that big of a deal. I researched many high performing websites and all of them also had render blocking Java script and CSS AND fast loading page speed.
It is hard to led past a big red recommendation from Google since making Google happy is the name of the game. But apparently it is just a recommendation based on best practices and not a required action that will be penalized.
I think this thread can be closed now. Thank you.
February 5, 2017 at 8:53 am #742941Hi,
Thanks for the feedback. I’m not sure why they recommend to do that to be honest, they basically want all code to be added inline, which makes things very difficult for developers. But like you say, it’s only a recommendation, but most website owners would understand it as something they should do.
Please open a new thread if you should have any further questions or problems.
Best regards,
Rikard -
