hi,
I don’t expect any support for third party plugins (here: Polylang) but I wonder if you can shed some light how the footer widgets are called.
I had 5 columns in my single language site and accordingly 5 widgets got creates (Footer – column1 to 5).
Now, with polylang installed, I can select to show certain widgets only for certain languages. When I set my footer widget (Footer – column1 to 5) to only be displayed for german – how can I create the corresponding widgets to be displayed when english is selected?
I tried to create more Footer – column1.. widgets, which got automatically numbered 6 to 10 which gives me some hope that I am on the right track, but what i see in the english version are the default widgets (archive, bookmarks etc..)
here is the site (click “open the app”): https://wertstein-perler.c9users.io/en/masthead/
December 21, 2017 at 7:32 pm #891300Hey,
Please try using a plugin such as this one – https://wordpress.org/plugins/widget-logic/ and choose to display/hide your widgets depending on conditions – https://codex.wordpress.org/Conditional_Tags
Best regards,
YigitDecember 22, 2017 at 9:51 am #891518thanks, I got the part where I control on which page a widget should appear (but I tried it with the widget logic plugin anyways in case I missed the reason you suggested it).
my problem is, that although I created footer widgets 6 to 10 I cannot get them to appear (with or without widget logic).
to make it even clearer: when I disable widget footer columns 1 to 5, no matter what condition I put into widget logic widget footer columns 6 to 10 don’t appear – only the built in wordpress widgets appear (as if no widgets have been created) – as if some enfold built in mechanism prevents the display of more widgets than the amount defined for a widget area

Can you give us temporary admin access to your website in the private content box below, so that we can have a closer look?

December 28, 2017 at 2:49 am #892281Hi,
I see you have 5 footer columns each with one widget, I believe that a solution would be to add a second widget to each column for the second language, and then use the plugin: Dynamic Widgets which will allow you to set conditional rules for widgets based on language. Please review the plugin.Best regards,
MikeJanuary 2, 2018 at 12:20 pm #892455Ok, but I am not sure how I can create two widgets for each columns. I for instance can try to create a second widget named “Footer – column1”, but it get’s automatically renamed “Footer – column6” and I am at the same point as before (see original question).
In short: How to create two widgets for the same column?
January 3, 2018 at 12:50 am #892650Hi,
You can’t name two widgets with the same name, you will need to use “Footer – column1” & “Footer – column1a” then use your conditional rules to have one shown for each language, while hiding the other.Best regards,
MikeJanuary 4, 2018 at 11:00 am #893187Thanks, but are we talking about “widgets” or “widget areas”? When I create a widget area like this:
and set it to appear only for one language, instead of the widget I get this generic widget instead:

MikeJanuary 4, 2018 at 1:16 pm #893227This seems to happen quite often with screenshots hosted by screencast.com. somehow your forum system changes the URL
to

but yes, it is working now.
