    Hello,

since Enfold 4.5.4 the frontpage setting in Theme Options does not memorise my static page for Russian and English, while it does ONLY for the main language. Look at the screen prints (the languages are selected via Polylang at the top panel on the left): French by default, Russian, English.
I had NOT this issue before Enfold 4.5.4

PS: I’m using the very last versions of WP and Polylang

    Hi,

nope, “ЧИТАТЬ НА РУССКОМ” has to lead to http://www.newpointdeview.com/ru/, and English to http://www.newpointdeview.com/en/. Those are exactly the same pages (the appearance) like http://www.newpointdeview.com/ but tranlsated into Russian and English. And the homepage is the only permalink of all my website which doesn’t work since the last update.

The permalink you mentionned (https://www.newpointdeview.com/pro-ru/mezhkulturny-intellekt/muzhepodobnost-v-amerikanskoj-kulture-bol-malchikov-muzhchin/) is actually the latest Russian post from the blog.

    Hi Anton,

I apologize for the delayed response.
I have tried using WP 5.1, Enfold 4.5.4, Polylang 2.5.2 and it works properly on my end. I couldn’t figure out what’s causing this issue however there might be some plugin conflict that might be affecting the queries which affects the page that should appear. Can you try to disable all plugins except for the polylang plugin? also flush out the cache first before temporarily deactivating the caching plugin. Let us know if it works if done this way. Also polylang needs you to assign Homepage and Blog in Settings > Reading instead of putting it in Enfold > Theme Options.

    Best regards,
    Nikko

    Hi,

    • switching off all plugins except Polylang does not change anything. So there is no any conflicts with other plugins.
    • In Settings > Reading I’ve got the same problem as in Enfold Theme options. Meaning: I can choose only 1 language out of 3; if I modify it for English it doesn’t work for Russian and Frenche, if for Russian, so it does for French and English. And so on.

    Any other solutions ?

    Hi Anton,

I can’t think of any other solutions at the moment.
It doesn’t seem to recognize homepage set in Enfold > Theme Options > Frontpage Settings, so just set this to Select page, and then it needs to be set in Settings > Reading.
Can you try to create a staging site? so we can try to isolate the issue without affecting your live site. Here is a tutorial on how to create it: https://themeisle.com/blog/wordpress-staging-site/

    Best regards,

    Hi,

unfortunately it’s too complicated for me. I’m not a professional webmaster. And learning all of that to apply will take too much time.
I’ve changed in Enfold to “Select page” and then selected the static page in Settings > Reading settings. And now all translated home pages open only the French one, the Russian and English links don’t open Russian and English list of posts as before.
I’ve also contacted Polylang creator, just in case, but he doesn’t reply…

I don’t know what to do

    Hi Anton,

I see, I modified the slugs for ru and en.
The links are also modified and it works now.

    Best regards,

    Hey !

Indeed, now it works. But 3 things:
    1. Selecting the static pages for the homepage and blog from Settings > Reading instead of Enfold Frontpage Settings distroyed the blog pages in 3 languages (it was ok for the home page in 3 languages, but not at all ok for Blog static page). So I selected “your latest posts” in Reading and then the static pages in Enfold Frontpage Settings. Now everything seems working correctly.

    2. Do you think I have to set a redirection now to this new slug, in order to avoid all missings from the external links (picture) ?

    3. I thought about this solution (changing the slugs of the translated copies of the homepage) at the beginning, but I thought it woudn’t be a good idea, since the old slugs (/ru/ and /en/) were working correctly before the last Enfold update. So I thought the problem was coming from something “internal”, not from the slugs. What can you say ?

    Hi Anton,

    1. Great to hear that.
    2. Yes, you can either fix the links or if there’s too many to change then redirection is the best thing to do in order to save both time and effort.
    3. I’m not really sure since I’m not very much familiar with the polylang plugin to be honest, however I did notice in Language Settings it uses the slugs like /ru/ and /en/ and I was expecting it will have a url like website.com/language/slug/ or something like website.com/en/home/ since it’s a translated page but it didn’t work that way, so I thought it might be some conflict with the slug used and just tried to change it and test which works.

    Best regards,
    Nikko

    Hi @Nikko,

FYI: concerning “website.com/language/slug/ “, those are my settings in Polylang and this is why you haven’t understood its functionning. There is a reason why I had chosen these settings, but long enough to explain.
If you want/need other explanations about Polylang, feel free to ask.

The thread maybe closed. Thank you

    Hi Anton,

I see, the screenshot explains a lot :)
Anyway, glad that this is resolved.
Thanks for using Enfold and have a great day!

    Best regards,
    Nikko
