    Hey all,

I was repeating the task of adding the same promo box to many page on a test website, then it dawned on me that there was a really easy way to do this using Kriesi’s template system. It worked like a charm, so I wanted to share with everyone…

    1. Create a draft page and call it something like: Template – Promo Box

    2. ONLY create a promo box on this page. Click on the template button and save it. For example I used: T – Promo Box. Keeps all my templates together alphabetically. I use P (P- About Us) for pages if anyone cares :)

FYI — I use the templates to back-up my work in case there’s a glitch on the page. Lost a couple of pages after saves, so this has saved my bacon a few times.

    3. Give the page order number something high like 1000. That way it stays down on the bottom, when your looking at your page list.

    4. Make sure to save it as a DRAFT and it won’t show up in your sitemap. If you published it, that’s ok… just change it back to draft ASAP.

Now when your working on a page, you use the templates button and have easy access to a pre-configured element, like the promo box. I also will be using it for announcement headers / footers on blogs etc.

If you didn’t know, there’s a separate thread with a great video by Nick on how to enable the Avia Layout Builder for blogs or custom post types: https://vimeo.com/channels/aviathemes/64996057. About 1/2 way through, he shows how to enable it.

    Hope this helps!

    Cheers,

    – John
