Hello, a few months ago I rebuilt my site http://www.afghanistan-parsa.org using the Enfold theme. Since then, when searching my site on Google, the description says, “No information is available for this page.”

I followed the “Learn why” instructions on Google to remove the robots.txt and my hosting provider (Bluehost) said it has been removed. I submitted my site to Google to reindex it over a month ago but still no change. They now say it may have to do with my theme. Is that possible? Do you have any advice on how I can get Google to show a proper description for my site?

    Thanks so much,
    Alyssa

    Hey AlyssaMandy!

Please access the WordPress admin area and go to Settings > Reading.
There you will find an option called “Search Engine Visibility.” Make sure the box that says “Discourage search engines from indexing this site” is NOT SELECTED. (Screenshot: https://www.hostinger.com/tutorials/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2017/03/wordpress-discourage-search-engines-from-indexing-this-site.png )

If this box was not selected I’d recommend to install a seo plugin like: https://de.wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-seo/ – it comes with predefined settings which make sense in most cases and it should improve your ranking dramatically.

    Best regards,
    Peter

I’ve made sure “Discourage search engines from indexing this site” and will try the SEO plugin.
    Thank you!

Thanks Rikard. There is no change yet in the Google search results but i have done both things that Peter suggested and I imagine it could take up to a week or two for Google to crawl my site again to get a description. I will make sure to post back on this topic when the description appears, or if I need further support. Thank you both for the prompt support!
