Hi There! Followed advice in this thread https://kriesi.at/support/topic/google-maps-error-3/#post-672381 Have disabled plugins, no extra space, and have no restrictions on API key, but still can’t connect Google Maps and retrieve location. Any other suggestions? See private content for additional info. Thank you!

    Hey Valerie,

Can you put your Google API key in private content? so we can try to test it.

    Best regards,
    Nikko

    Hi,

I checked your API key and it seems to work fine on my local installation.

Please try activating the Enfold main theme and check if the maps work.

You can export the child theme settings and then import it back to the main theme if switching the theme change the way your site looks.

    Hi Vinay,

    Thanks for your message.

I think what you are recommending is to activate the Enfold parent theme to see if the API key works there. Will that affect my child theme settings, formatting, and content? It seems so as part of the fix is to export the child theme settings and then importing them back to the parent. Why do that? I want to use the child theme. Please clarify.

    Thanks!
    Valerie

Do we now have to pay for usage of Google maps? Is the reason the API key is not working is because it is not linked to a billing account? I’ve never had to pay for using Google maps before.

    Hi,

Yes, you need to add billing details to the account connected to the API. This is a recent change from Google Maps, you will likely never pay anything unless you make a lot of calls to the API though.

    Best regards,
    Rikard
