Hi,
When I create and enter an Google API key, the same message is always displayed : “Could not connect to Google Maps with this API Key.”
I don’t know what to do. I tried to deactivate all extensions, but the same error message is displayed everytime.
Please find credentials to our website in private content.
Could you please help?
Thanks a lot!March 6, 2020 at 4:56 am #1190728Hey fcp,
Thanks for the login details. Please share the API you are trying to use as well.

You can find the API key I’m trying to use in private content.
Thanks for your help!March 8, 2020 at 6:22 am #1191224Hi,
Thanks for that. On which page are you using the Google Maps element? Also, please check the analytics tracking code you have added, you need to add the whole code snippet, not just the part you have added.

RikardMarch 10, 2020 at 2:25 pm #1191840Hi Rikard,
So I added the whole analytics tracking code. In the theme it is written to “Entrez votre ID de suivi de Google (UA-XXXXX-X) OU votre code de suivi Google Analytics complet ici.”, that’s the reason why I only entered my tracking ID before…
About Google Maps, I’m not using it on a page for the moment, because of this API Key, it doesn’t work on pages. So for the moment I’m using an extension named 10Web Google Maps, but I would like to use Enfold Google Maps…
Thanks for your help!
March 11, 2020 at 3:33 pm #1192319Hi,
We tried to validate the API key and found a few errors in the console.
Geocoding Service: You must enable Billing on the Google Cloud Project at https://console.cloud.google.com/project/_/billing/enable Learn more at https://developers.google.com/maps/gmp-get-started For more information on authentication and Google Maps JavaScript API services please see: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/get-api-key
You have to enable billing for the project where the key is generated and turn on the Geocoding Services API. Check the documentation for more info.
// https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/google-map/#enable-services-for-google-api
When you’re done with the previous steps, please don’t forget to deactivate the map plugin before validating the key again.

You’re speaking about billing. Does it mean using Google Maps is a chargeable service??
Thanks!March 17, 2020 at 10:43 am #1193754Hi,
Yes, Google Maps charge for their service. But small or medium sized sites will likely never have to pay since they give you $200 for free each month: https://cloud.google.com/maps-platform/pricing/

Thanks for that. This is the error message you are getting from Google Maps: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/error-messages#invalid-key. Please try following the documentation there.
