I will admit, I am VERY confused by all the hoops you have to jump through now to just add a simple Google Map (showing the location of the business) to a website. That said, I have done my best to follow all the instructions from both your documentation and Google… still I get a message that says “Could not connect to Google Maps with this API Key.” Please help?? Let me know what kind of access you need to take a closer look.
September 1, 2020 at 5:23 am #1242349Hey Leasha,
Please post us your login credentials (in the “private data” field), so we can take a look at your backend.
- Install and activate ” Temporary Login Without Password “.
- Go to ” Users > Temporary Logins ” on the left-side menu.
- Click ” Create New “.
- Add the email address for the account ( you can use (Email address hidden if logged out) ), as well as the ” Role ” making that the highest possible and the expiry about four days
( to be sure that we have enough time to debug ). - Click ” Submit “.
- You’ll now have a temporary account. Please provide us here in the private section the URL, so we can login and help you out.
When your issue is fixed, you can always remove the plugin!
If you prefer to not use the plugin, you can manually create an admin user and post the login credentials in the “private data” field.Best regards,

Thanks for the update. The login details you posted are not working, please check and verify them. If you need to share screenshots with us then please upload them to a service like Google Drive or Dropbox, then link to them here. Also please share your Google Maps API in private if you haven’t added it to the theme backend already.

Thanks for that. This is the error message you are getting from Google Maps: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/error-messages#referer-not-allowed-map-error. Please follow the directions there.

RikardSeptember 15, 2020 at 7:19 pm #1246106So I have the API set as follows:
Application restrictions:
Set to HTTP referrers (web sites)Website restrictions:
I have this URL: https://mitchellthomassalon.com/contact/The only change I made was adding the /contact/ to specify the page that the Google Map will display on. Is this the correct change? So far I still get the message (in the Enfold Child Settings) that the API cannot connect to Google Maps.
September 17, 2020 at 2:55 pm #1246549hi,
I have a similar problem. when I put my api key, I receive this message:Troubleshooting:
Check if you typed the key correctly.
If you use the restriction setting on Google try to remove that, wait a few minutes for google to apply your changes and then check again if the key works here. If it does, you probably have a syntax error in your referrer url
If none of this helps: deactivate all plugins and then check if the API works by using the button above. If thats the case then one of your plugins is interfering.Application restrictions:

I apologize for that.
Please go to our documentation: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/google-map/
And find A simplified look at Google maps API key registration:
Please follow the instructions in there.

NikkoSeptember 29, 2020 at 12:19 am #1249189I am still having a problem with this. I have tried everything you have suggested and waited a significant amount of time for Google to update. I am still getting the message that it “Could not connect to Google Maps with this API Key.”
September 29, 2020 at 1:27 am #1249194Nevermind. I believe I found a solution. You can close this thread. Thank you.
