I did not understand that the Google’s API key for Maps was a free trial. I registered to it last summer i think, i connected a credit card and it all worked fine. I used my Google API key here and there, recently on my last website: http://www.garfagnanadream.it
Today the maps stopped working, i log into the Google API console and it says that the free trial has expired. What should i do now? I want it only for simple static maps, with no streetview or other features, that can be customized via Enfold.
Is there a free plan or a cheap plan only for that?
What should i do?
So, i noticed that in the java script console there were some errors.
Exceded quota for this api
Google Maps JavaScript API Warning RetiredVersion
Failed to loead resource server responded with status of 404
So i went and checked the quotas for my API, saw that the limit was set to 1
I had billing configured and enabled, tho.
So i removed my billing and added it back, using same credit card.
The notice saying that the trial was ended and that i needed to upgrade to paid account disappeared.
It started working again.
Now i want to ask: is the free daily usage quota still there? Or i will have to pay?
Why did this happen? Will it happen again?
Hi Leofiori,
You will have to pay if the number of map views exceeds the free amount. We do not know why the issue with the billing occurred, only Google can help you with that, you can write to their support.
Best regards,
