Good evening,
I am a new word press user and have spent hours trying to find basic documentation/Theme instructions on how to get started with the Enfold Theme from downloading it to customizing, etc. because I need to get my site up asap. I have already found and viewed the documentation website at http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/, but it hasn’t helped much because it is a bunch of random more advanced topics that do not go in any specific order. Some of the videos were insightful, but they have not helped much without general instructions or documentation that show me how to start from the beginning with using the Theme.
For example, the documentation website showed me how to change the footer Copyright and Kriesi link, but I couldn’t find and still have no idea how to just replace the main website footer language that is currently filled with demo addresses/info inside 4 columns with my own address, language, etc. Can you please send a link on how to do this?
Is there a general documentation instruction manual for this theme that starts from the beginning? If there is, can you please tell me where to find it or include a link to it? It’s probably because I am new to all this, but I could not find it in the download of all the files or on the documentation website. Thank you for your help.

For the footer widgets you can change them in Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets. You can disable the footer or change the number of widgets that display there in Dashboard > Enfold > Footer.
To get a layout like in your link edit your page and set the header style to “Transparent header” and drag a color section element to the top of your page and give it a background image.
Besides what comes downloaded in the theme zip from themeforest you can find more documentation here, http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/videos/. Let us know if there is anything specific you need help with.

July 22, 2015 at 3:54 pm #477160Thank you Elliott,
The footer information you provided was very helpful. Regarding the documentation, I was not able to find any documentation in the theme zip from themeforest and was sure to select the download with documentation option. Is there a general documentation instruction manual for this theme that starts from the beginning? Can you please send whatever documentation usually comes in the theme zip?
July 22, 2015 at 6:39 pm #477264Hey!
The documentation Elliot is referring to is the http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/ documentation website.
You can find a bit more information here, albeit some of the earlier videos have outdated information:
https://vimeo.com/channels/aviathemes
It would probably be best to source a decent wordpress tutorial to get you started, then if there’s anything specific you need help with, you can generally find a thread of the same question using the search feature.
If all else fails you can create another thread or enlist a freelancer

DakeJuly 26, 2015 at 11:01 pm #478826I have watched the videos, read the tutorial and read the WordPress codex language at http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes, but am still not sure if I set up my Enfold child theme correctly or if it is working correctly with the parent theme. I downloaded the Enfold child theme from the beginning right after downloading the parent theme as instructed, then I made the child theme active and set up my whole site in the child theme. (Thank you by the way for making the child theme download available, it is very helpful for us newbies)
Please let me know if it looks like it is working correctly or setup ok because I am a little lost and about to go live with my site, but wanted to make sure the Enfold child theme/parent theme are working together correctly.
Also, this is probably a dumb question but I am a beginner and just wanted to make sure: I should have the Child Theme as the Active theme when my site goes live right? Thank you tremendously for your help!
July 27, 2015 at 12:17 am #478837Hey!
That’s correct you should have the child theme active as of now.
I’m not seeing any immediate errors.
Since you followed the instructions closely, you should be good to go :)

DakeJuly 27, 2015 at 1:34 am #478851The Enfold Child Theme video is helpful and I tried to follow it as closely as I could, but it was mostly describing how to setup your own Enfold Child Theme and didn’t have much on what to do if you imported the Enfold Child Theme template that Kriesi generously provides.
I didn’t do much if any setup after importing the Enfold Child Theme Template provided by Kriesi then activating it and just wanted to make sure I didn’t miss anything. Everything looks okay with the functionality the way the parent/child theme are currently setup right?
*I should be making all the customization, adding photos, edits, etc. in the child theme right? Lastly, I don’t need to do anything with the parent theme before going live with the site right? You guys are awesome, thank you again for your help so we can get the site up!

I don’t need to go back and do anything with the parent theme before making my site go live with the child theme as the active theme right?
Sorry for the annoying questions, just want to make sure everything is setup correctly before going live. You guys are awesome, thank you again for your help so we can get the site up asap!
July 27, 2015 at 2:56 am #478862Hey!
That’s correct everything that you will be doing at this point will be done from the child theme.

DakeAugust 20, 2015 at 6:20 pm #490976Good afternoon Dake,
I watched all the videos and theme update instructions in documentation, but don’t think it is working correctly. I’m not positive, but am pretty sure I added the API key into the Enfold parent theme when we first set everything up prior to creating the Enfold child theme.
I received an email yesterday 8/19/2015 saying there is a new update for the Enfold Theme, but I didn’t receive a notification in WordPress about the update. I also checked again in WordPress and it says all the Themes are up to date but I never did any updates and it looks like the Enfold Parent theme is not the most recent version.
*How can we find out if I have already added the API key in the parent theme without our site formatting going down if we have to switch back to the Parent Theme to check to see if the API key is there?
*If the API key is added to the Enfold parent theme, it should notify us in WordPress if a new update is available and we can update it all from WordPress right?
*Should we also add the API key to our Child Theme? *How do we know if the Child theme is up to date?
Thank you for your help to make sure our new site is updating/working properly!
August 20, 2015 at 10:22 pm #491103I have the same wondering and would like to see the answers from the developer.
August 22, 2015 at 7:26 pm #491747*Please help, I haven’t received a response to my message above on August 20, 2015 at 6:20 pm and my Theme is not up to date.

August 24, 2015 at 3:47 pm #492280Hi!
Please downlad the latest version of Enfold which is currently 3.3.2 from ThemeForest and upload Enfold.zip file to somewhere on your server and then post FTP access here privately as well as WordPress admin login credentials so we can update the theme manually for you
Cheers!
YigitAugust 25, 2015 at 1:57 am #492571Thank you Yigit. I will download the file and post access privately as requested, but what do you mean by upload Enfold.zip file to somewhere on my server? What server and where? I appreciate your patience with me, just want to make sure I do it correctly.
August 25, 2015 at 3:52 pm #493021Hey!
The server Yigit is referring would the server your website is hosted on. You can use an FTP client to manually copy/upload the latest Enfold.zip on to a convenient location.
Cheers!
DakeAugust 26, 2015 at 3:25 am #493275@Dake, I feel confused now. Do you mean each time when Enfold updates, we need to have some much trouble to update our theme? Is there any easier way for updates? Thanks!
August 26, 2015 at 1:29 pm #493528Hey!
once we have updated it manually for you, you should be able to update easily within your backend.
Best regards,
Andy -
