Guys I need to reopen this. It’s not resolved, and it’s driving me nuts :)
I updated the CHILD theme, and once again the socket went back to ‘theme by Kries’ as a credit, and not what I currently replaced it with ‘site by js interactive’. Is there anyway to update the theme and not have to redo the footer each time? :) Should I strip the dynamic code that’s in there?
Let me know please. Thanks!
Hey Js-interactive!
You can change it through the theme options. See: http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/change-the-footer-text-and-link/
If you are using a child theme you don’t need to modify it on updating. You only replace and modify the parent.

Devin
I am using the child theme….However I am still finding myself having to re-add facebook code within the <body> tag to allow their plugin to work, and I am also re-entering code in the footer that’s currently calling social media icons in the socket of the theme. is there anyway to make this permanent so I am not re-entering each time the theme is updated?
Thanks!
Updating the parent doesn’t touch your child theme. If you have made the change there then the theme update couldn’t possible change that file.
If you are modifying the actual theme then you are not actually *using* the child them correctly. Just using a child theme does not mean the parent theme will be un-touched when you update. Consider the parent theme as untouchable for making theme modifications unless you want to make those changes after each update.
