August 10, 2013 at 8:36 pm #133983You need to be sure that all your images have been sized the same before you upload them or they will be distorted if they are not the theme specific sizes. You need to use a photo edit software like PHotoshop or Gimp, Paint Shop Pro to resize before using them.
And, set you can set image sizes up in WORDPRESS DASHBOARD / SETTINGS / MEDIA

First, its important to note that our support forums go by oldest post to newest so each time you self respond asking for help it actually pushes the topic to the end of our queue.
On your issue, the image container will not keep your image smaller than what the container actually is.
What this means is that if you put your gallery into a full width container then the images inside will stretch to fit it. Since you don’t have images that are large enough, you need to instead put your gallery item into a layout so that the gallery section is smaller.
Something like one-half/one-half might work so that your images only take up half the content area and the content on the left takes up more room.
Regards,
Devin
August 11, 2013 at 10:26 pm #133989Here is a test gallery I made if you want to look at it. This is in 1/2 layout
http://bluemontinluray.com/test-gallery/
Here are images as to how I set it up.
http://bluemontinluray.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/Image3.jpg
http://bluemontinluray.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/Image4.jpg ( this is a Full Width Gallery)
http://bluemontinluray.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/Image5.jpg ( half size content box.)
But there was no way we would know the size of the content = image sizes. Is there a video that shows this Devin?
August 11, 2013 at 10:46 pm #133990No there isn’t. It depends on the width you’ve chosen in the General Settings as well since that changes the whole container size.
The size of image you choose is what gets loaded into the layout. This can be really helpful if you want to use a different crop to keep an overly tall image or group of images to fit a square layout or a just generally show as thumbnails
The layout then makes adjustments to fit the viewers devices (full size desktop down to mobile). So if you choose an image that is 300px wide and your choice of gallery is the large single image like in this screenshot http://webex.gr/1.jpg , you’ll get a pixelated result.
It doesn’t usually come up as most users are already starting with a larger image. Even more so to make sure things look reasonable on the new retina screens.
If you just want to add in a single image however and don’t want it to scale then you don’t need to use a gallery at all. Just use a text section and add the image into the visual editor.
