    I’ve made three galleries, but one of them opens with a ‘fog’ over the first two rows of pictures. This particular tab has more photos than the other two, so it seems that the page is taking along time to load, but waiting doesn’t clear the fog. have a look at http://follies.org.uk/wp/index.php/galleries and click on the second tab ‘Restored or rebuilt’ to see the effect. I have tried changing the thumbnail fade in effect to ‘activate animation on page load’ but that had the effect of only covering the first two rows in fog, whereas with ‘show the animation when user scrolls’ the whole page was covered in fog.

    Also when I click on a thumbnail and the large picture opens, there is no way to close it- in most galleries I’ve seen there is an ‘X’ in the top corner. Is there any way to add this functionality?

    Since posting this I’ve added more images and the problem has gone away but then returned gain later on. But when clicking on a thumbnail to open a large image my PC hung up for a good three minutes on one occasion, so I’m assuming putting a lot of high res images in one page is hammering the memory. Some advice on the best way to manage a page like this would be appreciated. Here are some specific questions:
    1) I’m using ‘Gallery’ under ‘media elements’- is it a good idea to just load pictures straight from my camera (at around 2Mb each) or should I reduce the resolution before loading them? Would this speed up the page load?
    2) If I put four pictures in a row and then reduce the page size down to a mobile phone size, the pictures shrink down but don’t re-arrange themselves into rows of one or two as i might have expected. Is there anyway I can do this?.
    3) Is there any way I can display pictures with a caption below each of them permanently, instead of the pop-up caption I get by default?

    Hi FFAlan,

    Can you give us temporary admin access to your website in the private content box below, so that we can have a closer look?

    Best regards,

    Indeed, see below.
    It may not happen first time but if you swap between the ‘Newly built’ and ‘restored or rebuilt’ tabs you should see it happen. I would send you a screenshot but I can’t find a way to attach an image.

    Hi FFAlan,

    The link did not take me to the dashboard, the token could be expired already. Can you update it?

    Best regards,
    Victoria

    Yes -it had expired – I’ve just extended it by 24 hrs.

    Ok, thanks – I’ll contact Statcounter.

    I’ve contacted Statcounter and they’ve tried with different versions of their code but nothing improved the situation. So I removed the Statcounter add-on and tried again, but the problem is still there, so it wasn’t Statcounter’s fault. Could you have another look please?

    Hi FFAlan,

    The galleries seem to load and fade-in much better now. But there is still something, some JavaScript hickup, that delays fading in.

    Hi,

    We would like to check the issue again but the “about-me” and “galleries” page no longer exist. Please create a test page so that we can see the issue.

    Best regards,

    I had to do a complete redesign on the Galleries page (http://follies.org.uk/index.php/galleries/ ) as i couldn’t make it work using the galleries function. But the about me is still there and still comes up in greyed out mode almost every time it is opened. http://follies.org.uk/index.php/about-me/

    Hi,

    Thank you for the info.

    We added the following css code to disable the “greyed-out” gallery.

    .avia_transform .avia-gallery-thumb img {
        opacity: 1;
        -webkit-transform: scale(1);
        transform: scale(1);
    }

    Best regards,
    Ismael

    Many thanks -that seems to have cured the problem.

    Hi,

    Glad to hear that. Let us know if you need further assistance or if we can close the thread :)

    Best regards,
