Future of Enfold theme

Hey there.

We’re big fans of Enfold and how it works, but if you look at some features and its code, you cleary noticed it was released some years ago. So for us the question is if there will be ever a cut and modernization of the theme and its code? We’re customizing most of the shortcodes on our side, but it’s a lot of work with every update to check if they are still compatible.

Things I have in mind here:
– Consistent code. There are classes with “_” and “-” mixed. Strings use either ‘string’ or “string” with no clear rule.
– The huge amount of wrapping container in some elements. It feels like the theme is a growing onion. More and more layers over time but there is really no need for that.
– <Section>-elements everywhere, but – funnily – not in actual sections, which are <div> ;)
– Whole theme doesn’t use flex at all, instead old workarounds.
– Smaller things like columns in columns and so on….

So, is there any plan to update some of these things in the future? Or a new theme? Right now more and more of my peers start to question if we shouldn’t look for a theme with consistent coding and a more modern foundation to begin with. I know it’s not an easy task, but there are others themes out there who reworked most of its core and code with a big release and offering importer for older versions.
