I have a fullscreen slider on my homepage. When I open up another tab in my browser on Safari and then go back to my homepage with the slider, the slider is frozen and not responsive. The only way I can get the slider to start working again is by refreshing the browser. The arrows and bullets don’t work until it is refreshed. This doesn’t seem to happen on mobile devices however.
I also noticed that if I click one of the bullets later in the slideshow the slider freezes as well until I go back to the image that I was on and then it resumes.
You did help with a pause issue on the fullscreen slider that made it so the slider would continue autorotation after a slide is changed by the user so not sure if this is what is causing the problem or not.
Is this normal behavior? Hopefully there is a way to fix these issues. Thanks in advance!

Does it get fixed if you load the parent theme js/shortcodes.js file?

JosueAugust 26, 2014 at 3:19 am #309068Sorry for the delayed response. It still does the same thing with the parent them js/shortcodes.js file.
One issue is that if I click on any of the bullets out of order the slider stops and won’t start again until I go back to the slide that I was previously on.
If I open a tab in safari browser and then go back to the website the slideshow freezes and I have to refresh the page to get it to work. If I open tabs in Firefox or on iOS devices this doesn’t happen.
Here is the the thread that Dude helped me on

Can you please test the website with another browser (like Chrome or Firefox) on your Mac. I couldn’t reproduce this issue on Win8 with my installed browsers (IE, Firefox, Chrome) and I’m not sure if this might be a problem with your Safari setup (browser extension, configuration, etc.)
Best regards,

I tested with Chrome and Firefox on my Mac and neither browser has the freezing issue when I open up a new tab. It only happens in Safari. I have tried this on multiple Macs with Safari and it happens on all of them. I don’t have any extensions in that browser and it has all the original default configurations. Do you think this is an issue with the Safari browser or something that can be fixed? Hopefully it can be fixed because it directly affects the user experience.
In regards to navigating to different slides via the bullets, this affects every browser. If I swipe on a mobile device or use the arrows on a browser to go from slide to slide, the slideshow continues to auto rotate and has no issues. If I use one of the bullets to select another slide in the slider that is out of sequence the slideshow won’t continue auto rotation. However, I can still navigate the slideshow, it just disables the autorotation for some reason.

Ok, I’ll mark this thread for Kriesi. Unfortunately I can’t test it on a Mac and we need to wait for Kriesi to debug the code with Safari. I’ll also ask him to check the autorotation code – maybe he can reproduce this issue too. Please note that Kriesi is on vacation now (I think for a week or two) and it will probably take some time.
Cheers!
