full width columns

Hi,

Here is a picture for better understanding:

I don’t want the white space on the left side. I tried to find help here and found this:

But that dosen’t work for me. I have two columns (1/2 + 1/2) and also changed the quick css to:
#12345 .av_one_half { width: 100%; }

I also tried 10% etc….
Or is it the wrong way what I am doing?
