I attempted to edit the title tag unsuccessfully.
I did the following.
1. I navigated to the Frontpage
2. I clicked Edit Frontpage in the WordPress tool bar.
3. In the Frontpage page properties, in the title tag field (first field above the permalink) I changed the title from “Home” to “Hello”.
4. I got this as the title tag “My Website | “
5. I want this “My Website | Hello”
When I edit any page, other than the frontpage, I get the desired result.
E.g. I changed the “Contact Us” title tag to “Connect” and I got “My Website | Connect”
Is there something inherently different about the Frontpage that won’t allow me to edit?
Thank you
Hi Jasmer,
WordPress has some sensitivity to the home page and the title showing so the theme uses the recommended title of “Site Title | WordPress Tagline”.
So if you don’t have the tagline filled out in the wordpress settings nothing will show there.
If you want to have the title set for that page you can use a plugin like Yoast SEO to get control over manually setting page titles.

Devin
Devin,
Thank you. That worked but then it changes the format all other pages. From “My Site Name | Home” to “My Site Name – Home My Site Name”.
So solve this you have to:
1. Go into the Yoast SEO Settings and select “General” then select Force rewrite titles. This is when it changes the format of all other page titles.
2. Go into the Yoast SEO Settings and select “Titles & Metas” then go to the “Posts” tab and make this edit:
In EVERY “title template:” field enter %%sitename%% | %%title%%
That changes it back to Enfold’s template page title format.
Thanks for the point in the right direction! Jasmer
Glad we could help :)
