The menus are created and selected and added to the footer areas in Widgets. But suddenlym, after the update, the footer menus are gone. Can you help?

September 29, 2021 at 6:56 pm #1322860Hi,
Thanks for contacting us!
Could you please create temporary admin logins and post them here privately so we can look into it? :)
Regards,
YigitSeptember 29, 2021 at 6:59 pm #1322861I have a few Enfold-Sites. At some there are also other issues. How to handle that best?

September 29, 2021 at 7:06 pm #1322865Hi @Wulius,
Could you please create temporary admin logins and share them privately? I could not reproduce the issue on my local installation. It would be glad if we could login and take a look :)
Best regards,
YigitSeptember 29, 2021 at 8:35 pm #1322873Hi, please find the temp-admin logins for three sites in the private area.
There are some more to which I can´t provide access right now. So if there is a general ‘how-to-fix’ I would be glad if you could share it.Thanx in advance!
Best regards
WolfgangSeptember 29, 2021 at 9:37 pm #1322875I too would like to be alerted when there is a fix for the missing footer error – my website also experienced this issue.
I ended up restoring from backup.
Thank you in advance.
MaxSeptember 29, 2021 at 9:57 pm #1322877Hi @Wulius,
I could not login to your first site. I temporarily switched to parent theme on your second site and footer menu showed up. The second and the third sites both have modified header.php file on child theme so I think it could be related. Could you please try to copy new header.php file from Enfold 4.8.6.3 and update your modifications you made on it on your child theme, Wolfgang?
@blueballroom Thanks for reporting, Max. Have you modified any theme files on your child theme?Best regards,
YigitSeptember 30, 2021 at 8:27 am #1322940Please find attached the private detailes for my credentials.
Looking forward to hear from you.
Thanks
September 30, 2021 at 11:38 am #1322957Hi Yigit,
yes, the edited header.php seems to be the main villain. Had to do some adjustments at other points but no big deals.Looks like everything´s fine again. Thx for the support!
Best regards,
WolfgangSeptember 30, 2021 at 11:50 am #1322960Hi @neotel2k,
Thanks for the information! It seems like you have also modified header.php file on your child theme. Could you please copy a fresh header.php file from Enfold 4.8.6.3 and re-apply the modifications on your child theme and check if that helps? :)
@Wulius You are welcome! Always happy to help :) Let us know if you have any other questions and enjoy the rest of your day!Best regards,
YigitSeptember 30, 2021 at 11:55 am #1322962@Yigit I don’t understand: You want me to download the parent theme folder again and replace the header.php file in the parent theme folder, don’t you? But, shall I keep my header.php file in Child theme? (cause I have stuff there i need to keep)
September 30, 2021 at 2:01 pm #1322988Hi,
I have attached a copy of header.php file from Enfold 4.8.6.3 in private content field below. Please download it, add the stuff you would like to keep from header.php file of your child theme, rename header.php file on your child theme to old-header.php and then upload new header.php file to your child theme. Review your website and if there are no issues, remove old-header.php file from your child theme :)
Regards,
YigitSeptember 30, 2021 at 2:15 pm #1322992But if I do like this, then with the next update of the theme, header.php will get updated too, and i will lose the changes i made on it, am i right?
September 30, 2021 at 2:20 pm #1322995Hey,
If you keep modified header.php file on your parent theme, yes. However you should keep modified file on your child theme to avoid that. We are only copying fresh version of header.php file from parent theme to update it on your child theme. Then we add the changes (stuff you would like to keep) on that file and replace it with header.php file on your child theme :)
Regards,
YigitSeptember 30, 2021 at 2:42 pm #1323009@Yigit I am very sorry but I still don’t understand what the step are and I don’t want to mess anything up.
Tell me, that header.php I downloaded, should I paste it where? My currrent header.php in parent theme or in child theme?
And, what do I do whatever I have currently in my header.php for my child theme?
September 30, 2021 at 2:47 pm #1323013Hi,
– Please download Header.php file (I will call this one “new header.php file”) I shared here – https://kriesi.at/support/topic/footer-navigation-is-missing-after-the-update-of-today/#post-1322988
– Open header.php file on your child theme (I will call this “old header.php file”) and copy the changes you made on that file (stuff you would like to keep)
– Paste those changes/stuff you would like to keep into new header.php file.
– Rename old header.php file to “old-header.php”
– Upload new header.php file to your child theme.
– Now your child theme is using the new header.php file.
– Review your website and if there are no issues, you can remove old-header.php file from your child theme. If there are, you have old-header.php file as backup.I know it might get confusing but I hope it is clear this time :)
Regards,
YigitSeptember 30, 2021 at 2:57 pm #1323016Please find in private details the header.php I have for my child theme. I don’t know what part I need to paste in the other header.php. As you can see, a lot of the content seems to be the same. But I am not a php coder so I will probably do it wrong. Can you send me back the header.php with the changes I made in the child theme? That’ll be way easier for me.
Thanks a million
September 30, 2021 at 3:08 pm #1323021Hey,
It seems like only changes you made on header.php file were adding scripts. You can actually add the code I shared in private content field into functions.php file of your child theme and remove header.php file from your child theme :)
Regards,
YigitOctober 1, 2021 at 9:52 am #1323110It keeps giving me errors. It won’t let me save the file. I am attaching here my current functions.php for my child theme. Please, I’d appreciate you send it back, updated now with the new code. Thanks

October 4, 2021 at 11:37 am #1323424Hi @neotel2k,
Could you please post FTP logins here privately as well so in case your website throws error when we edit the file, we can quickly fix it via FTP? :)
Regards,
YigitOctober 4, 2021 at 12:31 pm #1323445It won’t let you connect I’m affraid. I work here in a Company and they don’t allow connections from the outside so the system won’t let you. Sorry :( If you send me the updated functions.php for my Child theme, I will make sure I have a backup of that file first ;)
October 4, 2021 at 12:33 pm #1323446I ask you to do this @Yigit cause I am not a developer
October 4, 2021 at 12:58 pm #1323453Hi,
Please open the link in private content field, copy everything inside “RAW Paste Data” section and then go to Appearance > Editor and edit Functions.php file and replace it with the new code and then remove header.php file from your child theme via FTP.
Best regards,
YigitOctober 4, 2021 at 4:33 pm #1323498I am having the same issue. My footer area has disappeared when using the child theme. Where can I get the Header.php file that will fix this? My developer is copying the php file from the main theme and using that for the child theme. Will this work?
Thanks,
