Hi Josue,
I added a reply but you already had closed the ticket. The Avia Builder freezes part of the screen and does not allow me scroll up or down (so I can’t update). This happens often during editing and causes me to loose of my changes. For example I created my columns and added text boxes. My screen frozen so could not update to new changes. I have to re open the page in another window, which does not have my latest changes of course, to start over. This happens often and can’t tell when it happens.
Do you know what may cause this?

I couldn’t really reproduce the issue. On which browser are you experiencing this? does it happen on another browser/computer?
Cheers!
JosueSeptember 23, 2014 at 3:24 am #323427I use Firefox. Don’t really use any other ones nor did I try if the problem exists there.

September 23, 2014 at 3:30 am #323429Could you please check if it happens on Chrome?
Best regards,
JosueSeptember 23, 2014 at 2:37 pm #323681Hi Josue,
I used IE because I don’t use Chrome. Although I have not encountered the page freezing, sometimes I can’t select the text for editing, either in the visual or text (html) area. If I save or select to work elsewhere on the page, then come back, I can edit again.
I will continue to test there this morning and see if the page freezes.
Strange what happens.
LyseSeptember 23, 2014 at 3:11 pm #323708Hi Josue,
I lost half of my home page while working in IE. I will now need to restore from yesterday’s backup!
LyseSeptember 23, 2014 at 8:26 pm #323900Hi Lyse!
Could you give details on what causes the issue exactly? i’m not sure if i’m following the right steps when i try to reproduce it.
Cheers!
JosueSeptember 23, 2014 at 9:28 pm #323919Hi Josue,
I happens intermittently. I could be editing text within, for example, the section that contains 2/5, 1/5, 2/5, sometimes it happens while I’m editing and can’t save, sometimes I save my changes within that section, but can’t scroll up the core page to update the page. I refresh the screen, sometimes my changes were saved and reappear, but most often, they are not.
I wish I could tell you exactly when it’s going to happen.
This is going to be difficult to pin down what is the cause.
LyseSeptember 24, 2014 at 4:36 am #324019Hello Lyse,
Indeed, it is very hard for us to debug an inconsistent problem, could you please try to reproduce the issue on another computer/device?

JosueSeptember 24, 2014 at 1:26 pm #324226Hi Josue,
Good suggestion. I will try another laptop and revert back in a couple days.
Thank you for your patience.

YigitOctober 2, 2014 at 5:47 pm #329124Hi Yigit,
Just briefly testing on another laptop this morning and my screen did not freeze while I was editing my Home page. However, I have the same issues with not being able to see the “text/html” of many of my pages on both laptops. For example, I do not see the code the Home page, but can see on the Jewelry Collection page. I do work a lot in the text mode because I find it easier than using the advanced layout editor. This is very critical for me with have this option working.
I will continue testing on the other laptop for as long as the owner will let me so I can see if the page editing freezes on me.
In the meantime can you help figure out my text editing area as to why it’s not working.
Much appreciated,
LyseOctober 5, 2014 at 9:31 pm #330563Hi Yigit
I did some testing this morning. I deactivated all of my plugins to see if any of them could be causing the issue that I can’t toggle between the basic editor and the Layout Builder and see the code. The problem still exists. Any suggestions on what is happening here?
Thanks
LyseOctober 6, 2014 at 2:32 am #330655Good day,
the same happened to me when using Avia Builder.actually it happened on different PCs with plugins deactivated, activated, yelled at and cursed.I could not scroll with the mouse, but was able to use the up and down arrows on the keyboard. Well, I figured that out when hammering my fist on the keyboard and suddenly something moved. So after some desperate days and loss of work, I could update again.
However, the freezing in my case occurs is irregular, but it seems to be triggered when closing a text-block (or code, etc) without saving, using the “x” to close it, after copying a text or code -for example- but not changing anything.
Maybe it helps the mod to evaluate. If unrelated, please delete the post.
regards
RhoodyOctober 6, 2014 at 1:41 pm #330863Hi Rhoody
It sounds familiar. I will take a closer look as to what sequence of events/actions I had just done. But I don’t my code available to work with in either the editor or builder – go figure.
Hopefully the great support team at Kriesi will find the cause and have a solution!
LyseOctober 7, 2014 at 3:31 am #331312Hi!
@tremblayly: Unfortunately, I can’t reproduce the issue on this test page: http://lysetremblayjewelry.ca/wp-admin/post.php?post=6243&action=edit&message=6I tested this one on IE, Firefox and Chrome. It doesn’t freeze no matter what I do to the page. As you can there are tons of elements on the advance layout builder.

IsmaelOctober 7, 2014 at 3:54 pm #331679Hi Ismael,
I’m on my home computer testing. I did not freeze up, however, the basic editor is not working still. I deactivated all plugins. Checked if the editor worked and it did not. With all plugins still deactivated, I switched to the default theme, and the editor works just fine. I reactivated all of the plugins one by one checking to see if the default editor would stop working – it did not. Once all of my plugins were reactivated I reactivated my Child Enfold theme. The text editor stopped working!
There certainly appears to be a theme conflict here. Hopefully you can do additional checking with the Enfold theme.
Thank you for your patience but there has to be something with theme that causes this issue.
LyseOctober 10, 2014 at 10:24 am #333776Hi!
I have followed the same steps as you on my station but I cannot recreate the issue.
Could it be the following?
The Advance Layout Editor suppresses content that are entered in the basic editor. This is a feature that’s meant to prevent users from editing code generated by Advanced Layout Editor directly via the basic editor.
If you wish to view the code that you’re working with, try the following guide:

ArvishOctober 13, 2014 at 6:39 pm #335104Hi Arvish
I have enabled the advanced layout building debug within my functions.php under my child theme.
Although I still have intermittent freezing issues, (1) I use the arrow keys to at least move up to the UPDATE button to same my changes; (2) I’m able to copy code between pages and within the same page. This is a lot more efficient for me. I am aware of the risk but I’m being extremely careful.
Thank you
LyseOctober 15, 2014 at 8:33 am #335993Hey!
As far as I know (looking at our internal bug list) there are no other reports even mentioning freezing editor so it seems like this is most likely a local/single instance issue. If we do get a secondary instance of it we can look for any duplicate setups/plugins etc but otherwise its a lot of shooting in the dark.
If you have it at a mostly-working or workable point I would suggest creating (if possible) a dev environment that is a duplicate of what you have now on the same server for further testing and keeping the live site stable.
At that point if we do get any other instances of the same issue we can check easily and try and figure out what the root issue is.

DevinOctober 15, 2014 at 2:00 pm #336127Hi Devin,
It would appear that Rhoody, another participant, also reported similar issues on October 6. One of his solution, using the arrow keys to move scroll back up or down on the frozen screen, helped be at least go back to the update button to save my changes instead of me having to refresh the screen and loosing my edits. He is also correct as to when this happens: “…triggered when closing a text-block (or code, etc) without saving, using the “x” to close it, after copying a text or code -for example- but not changing anything.”This also happens on different computers and using different browsers.
I have installed Enfold on a different server. When I close a text block using the ” X” I was able to replicate the problem. The arrows keys save me from loosing all of my changes! I have just the basic plugins installed with WordPress, so that eliminates plugin incompatibilities.
Thank you for all of your help and patience. I understand the frustrations of narrowing down an issue when you can’t replicate it at your end. Have you tried closing the text block using the X. Try it a couple of times to see if it freezes.
Cheers,
LyseOctober 16, 2014 at 8:23 am #336612Hi!
Thank you for the info.
I think Kriesi already fixed the issue when pressing “enter” instead of clicking the save or update button. I’ll ask him to take a look on this thread. Please wait for his response.
